Can anyone give insight/feedback on these two showcases that are being held in June at Duke (6th & 7th) and South Carolina (27th-28th)? My son - who is an '07 - received a letter that stated it was an invitation only showcase for the top 06's & 07's in the Carolina's, Virginia's and nearby states and that they (Impact) are inviting all 30 professional club Area Scouting Supervisors and the Major League Scouting Bureau and approximately 100+ college coaches.

My son attended one of the local Impact events last spring but it was a one day event and only cost $60. This is two days and costs a good bit more. The top performers are to be invited to the impact games. If anyone has had a son attend/or attended themselves, do you really get the attendance of the scouts and recruiters to make it worth the extra money - particularly since my son is an 07? What are the other differences from the 1 day events.

MVaughn, the college coach attendence at the Summer Impact major events is always very good. They know that a lot of the screening work has been done for them, so all of the D1's send representation. They expect to see (and they do see) that virtually every player at the showcase is capable of playing at the next level.

90% of all NC Guys end up in NC. It only makes sense to play in front of the coaches who will probably be the most interested in you. If you decided to attend a showcase in Georgia during the same period, you would be shocked how low the turnout is from the NC, SC colleges and Universities.

Virginia isn't very well organized either (same as SC). A lot of the southern Virginia players are playing in the NC events. The Virginia college know this, so they have started attending more frequently too.

In my opinion, as a showcase, it has the best "bang for the buck".

Agree with NCBBallFan! No question about it if you wish to play College baseball at any level in NC, SC or Virginia these are great showcases to attend. The attendance of Impact's showcases by college coaches and professional scouts is not overstated.

Congratulations on the invitation and good luck!

to follow up on this point.........I would sure spend your money with Impact baseball before I spend it with programs like Teamone, or Perfect Game. Show your talents in front of the coaches you are probably going to play for if you have the ability. Andy will treat you right and give you an honest opinion. If he tells you you need to work a flaw then it is probably accurate........not sure you get that from these other showcases. At least we did not.

Any showcase operator isn't doing the player a favor if he doesn't accurately report at least the raw numbers. If you get a gun reading, it's not fudged. If Andy guns you with a JUGS portable, he says that in the report so people won't think it's an old Stalker reading.

Perfect Game is at a tremendous disadvantage. They may see a player once or twice only. Because of that, they will freely admit that they give players the benefit of the doubt, so some guys grade out higher at PG events than at other events. PG won't fudge a gun reading for anyone, they have to protect their integrity.

Andy has "eyes" all across the state who give him reports. A lot of the HS Coaches who help with his teams during the summer/fall fill him in on who looks good, etc. The information that he is basing his recommendations on are coming from multiple sources and tend to be pretty accurate.

I was talking to Bob Hempy the other day (his son Arik is down at South Carolina and doing great). We both admitted that we thought Andy was a pretty good kid. Shows you how much younger he is than us old coots.

I was wondering what the college representation is like for Impact's tournaments compared to their showcases.

I would highly recommend the showcases,we have attended a least 3 and have been pleased by the college scouts that where there. My son attended his first one when he was a freshman and I think it helped him get over the nerves for the following year. The one day work out for 60$ was a completely different animal,I think it is more for Impact to take a look at your son and to give kids a little experience at displaying their talents and chance to make the Impact Team.

MVaugh: The Impact showcases will get your son seen and on the college contact list. If your only need is to have your son seen then Impact, in most cases is a good thing. Your son will get very limited instruction and very little feed back from Impact. you do have other options to consider such as The Perfect Game showcases, UNCC Fall showcase and attending actual camps of the schools your son may be interested in. My experince has lead me to look for the best values for my son's needs! Good Luck to your son!
