An article published in todays Clemmons Courier says that the Clemmons Town Council has passed a resolution in support of the new American Legion baseball team in western Forsyth co. The team will begin play in May with games played at West Forsyth HS. :xyzthumbs

Mr. E.A. Hendley, the Post 522 commander said that a similar resolution is forthcoming from the Lewisville Town Council and that both town councils as well as the communities have offered generous financial support. :applause:

    PLAY BALL!!!

Hey, Homer 3 we don't know who you have been talking to but we do know you have some bad information. being close to the situation in the american legion this has become a very ugly issue The clemmons paper and the Davie county papers have no clue what is going on along with several of the parents from Western forsyth county, Davie and Yadkin county's.Mr. Hendley has some bad information also i would not be posting on here if i was not involved in the legion standpoint of this matter and having to listen and here all of this nonsence on this board. I am neutral as far as the teams involved. As of right now Western Forsyth does not have a team, even if these parents have raised thousands of dollars.Mocksville,Yadkin, and winston Salem will be effected if this team is granted. These teams that will be effected will be sat down with the state officials and a resolution resoved so don't get your hopes up just yet homer 3.A resolution will be made in the near future.

I had no idea anything I have posted here would get us Davie County people soooo stirred up. As I have mentioned before, I am a Davie County fan and have followed both HS and Legion teams for years. So you can't really say I'm neutral. Maybe I'm just more open to change than some of the "good ol" boys in Davie. I think we should welcome a new team in Clemmons. I don't think it will have a negative impact on Mocksville or the area for that matter. The Davie, Forsyth Yadkin county areas are one of the fastest growing areas in NC, so you know there are more players available to all. Plus, all this may make our Mocksville team become a little more open in it's policies and finances since it is a 501-c organization.

I heard the Western Forsyth board is meeting Monday evening with the district III Legion representative. Supposedly this is when something official will be presented to the board and Mr. Hendley approving their new team.

Finally, I DO have more than a clue on what's going on as I have confirmed all that I have put on this board with the state legion office and other legion officials in Lewisville and Mocksville. Let's just put it this way...I have a close relative is associated with the state legion office so there is no reason for me to want or desire to spread rumors or misinformation. Enough said. See you at a Legion game this summer in Mocksville AND Clemmons!

Homer 3 as i said earlier you have no clue what is going on unless you are an official of an area 3 team it sounds like to me you need to join 1 of the boards from Mocksville or Western Forsyth .And by the way if you could get your hands on the try out rosters of all area 3 teams you would find out that the numbers are actually smaller now than they were in the 1980's for most all teams. Sure West Forsyth is growing so is Davie What i would like for you to do is name all the legion calliber players from these 2 schools and see if you come up with enough names to justify a good quality sr. legion team. 1 that can compete for an area championship remember you may have to play 7 nights in a row.

I'm wondering if it's something iin the water in North Carolina? Maybe the winter cold has started the NC relative of China's Bird Fever. I'm going to call it 'Bird-Brained Fever". It seems that whenever the word "Legion" has been mentioned on this board in 2005, the threads get argumentative and/or nasty. In case you are wondering, I've found out that it's easy to convey information without insulting another person.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. "PLAY NICE". If your sole desire in posting something is to attack another member of the board, then leave. We don't slam players on this board and if you want to have an argument with someone else, then trade phone numbers and have fun.

First of all, I want to say THANKS to Pops for trying to keep some sanity and respect on TBR. This board should be used for the exchange of ideas, news, promotion of players and teams, and comments about how to improve the game.

Apparently there is some misinformation being put out regarding the new legion team in Forsyth Co. All I can say in regard to the info I have provided is that I HAVE verified everything I have posted about the team coming to Clemmons.

In regards to fielding teams that can compete for a championship, there may be a down year or two, for these teams, however the talent and coaching in this area is very good. I know this may not be the best comparison to legion ball, but just look how far the area major, JR. & SR. Little League teams have advanced nationally recently. Plus the area high schools have done very well also. And, there are numerous travel ball teams in the area who play for national championships every summer. I just find it hard to believe adding a new team will delete this talent pool so that none of these area legion teams will be able to compete for a championship.

As for joining one of the boards, I live in Davie Co., so I wouldn't think I would be any help to the Forsyth board. However, I did serve on the Mocksville board years ago but left due to over a disagreement over how the finances of the team were being handled. I left on good terms and have remained a supporter of Mocksville legion and high school ball for many years.

This will be my final post on this matter until after the first practice of the new legion team in Clemmons. Again, I didn't mean to rattle so many cages with saying I think the new team should be welcomed. But hopefully we here in Davie Co. can turn our negative emotions into something positive for the Mocksville team.

Why is it when a new group wants to form a legion team in an area, all the surroundng areas go nuts? When it comes to baseball we all should be supporting anything that gives more kids an opportunity to participate. The "watering down" argument jusy doesn't fly with me. I would be more apt to think of it as, being able to play games against a team closer to home and cutting down on some of the travel. I am so glad that the team we tried to form a few years ago did not come to fruition after reading all the garbage associated with legion over the past few years. Too much "daddie ball" politics for me. Our kids are now playing more games, and gettin much better in the summers, than they ever would have playing legion. I am so tired of reading of all the legion whining. But this is an open board so as long as we keep it clean and respectful............

With all respect, if you want to play baseball and not have to travel far, there are plenty of pony league teams availiable to play on in your area. Pony league allows you to play with kids you go to school with, get better, and have fun. However, if you want to prepare yourself to play at the college level, then legion baseball was established for that particular purpose. As i said on another thread, legion ball was created to allow the best of the best to compete against the best of the best. Believe me, I have been there.

I have seen it too my friend and it is no longer the case. Sure there are a few small pockets around the state where legion is still a respected baseball outlet. But, it is far from where it was several years ago, and has been left in the dust by showcase ball. Too many legions teams playing these days with HS freshman and sophmores. I am not going to post anything else on this matter as it would be fruitless. Good luck.
