I have heard a lot about the Metro and the CPC, what is going on in the Piedmont-Triad 3A? Who should have the big year? Any possible surprises? I just want to see what you guys think.

Bobcats of Glenn should be a pretty good team....Jason Bixby should be the ace of the staff as a junior, also some promising sophs. might move up and pitch some....Glenn will be led at the plate with Kyle Boyan Jr. and C.J. Beaty also, Ryan Caldwell will do his usual thing, be quiet the whole time and attack everything at 100%....Glenn should win the PC3A but always watch out for Northeast and Jeremy Synan that kid is amazing

Yes, Glenn is the team to beat going into the season. Ryan Caldwell should have a great year. NE Guilford and SW Guilford both lost a lot from last year. Parkland has most everything returning from last season and will take more wins from the conference. Players to watch would include NE Guilford's Jeremy Synan, Glenn's Ryan Caldwell and Rockingham's LHP Dustin Stultz.

Northeast Guilford has been in this conference for 3 seasons and has shared the chapionship with Glenn in 2004 and 2002. They lost a lot of seniors, but they will be replaced by a very good group of juniors. This group will be led by our catcher Nate Cockman. This kid hit 11 home runs and drove in over 40 rbi while hitting 440 as a Sophmore! Is there a sophmore in the state that put up those kind of numbers? We will be a little shallow on pitching but coach Lawing has been doing this a long time he will make adjustments. Southwest Guilford had a very good J.V. team last year and one of the best coaches in the state in Reid Holmes, they will compete. The team to watch out for in my opinion is Rockingham County, they always come up a little short in making the playoffs, not this year, they will make the playoffs and could even win the conference. Our conference is a little dis-advantaged in that we have 9 teams and start conference play so early. Our 3rd. thru 6th. games of the season are all conference games. So a team could pick up some losses before they even get their line up set.

    Final Standings

What will the final standings be? The top 5 at the end of the year. From what I have heard and know about who has who returning and what not. I believe:
    1. Rockingham
    2. Glenn
    3. Northeast
    4. Parkland
    5. Southwest
What do you guys think? I watched this conference a lot last year and I believe there will be a lot of close games and it will be a fight to the end, just like it is in most conferences where "dynasties" have been built.

You all are crazy if you think someone other than Glenn is going to win the conference this year. I dont see how a team that returns like 17 players off a team that went 25-4 last season (with a conference championship) is not going to defend this year. Glenn is flat loaded. Glenn did however suffer one major loss this year, the loss of their coach Dale Ijames. He built this school into one of the major baseball powers in the state. However this team will remember everyhing they were taught by him and is too experienced and way too talented to not win the conference. ( I think someone told me they havent lost a conference title in like 10 years. This is not a rebuilding year by no means for the bobcats so expect their 11th straight) In fact, Glenn is a legit state title contender this season after advancing to the regional semifinals last year.As for talent, Ryan Caldwell is a major player of the year candidate for Glenn. Him and Centerfielder CJ Beaty are major power threats and great all around players for the Bobcats.
But to reply to ss-05's comment about sophomores that put up great numbers, Glenn may have one. (By the way, I have personally seen Nate Cockman play and he is a great player) Glenn will have a sophomore phenom this year by the name of Chris Jacobs. For anyone who hasnt seen this kid play, you better go watch. I saw the kid at the end of last season and he is a flat monster with the bat. (Saw him play NE Guilford last year.....ask NE how far he can hit a baseball,TWICE) The kid only played half the season last year and had around 30+ Rbi's and who knows how many homers. Anyone who has the opportunity to watch Glenn this year, enjoy a great hitter.

    Predicted order of finish
    1. Glenn (nothing new for the Bobcats)
    2. Rockingham County (lefty pitcher is really tough)
    3. NE Guilford/ SW Guilford (should be a great battle for the final playoff spot
    between two good baseball traditions.
