The Kinston Minor League Teams field was pretty cool ... A nice older park... at the time our AAU team played there, the field was being groomed for the minor league all-star game for espn and it was in super nice shape....

I think that particular weekend Jesse Lewter pitched against Justin Hatley in a great 1-0 game....  my team won btw....

I want those days back again.... :xyzthumbs :xyzthumbs

    Baseball Fields

As a high school/American Legion umpire in the Foothills, I have come across some very nice high school fields that are not on the top 25:

    1. Bessemer City HS - How does this get left off??? Wow. They go out after every game and repair all the divits.

    2. North Gaston HS - Very well kept, not a great place to watch a game, like Bessemer is, but the field itself is very well kept.

    3. Bandys HS - Kept well with the help of Brian Harvey, they have an infield tarp and are hardly ever rained out.

    4. Watauga HS - I think most people think this field deserves to be in the top 25 from what I've read.

    5. Bunker Hill HS - With recent additions to the pressbox, this field is very well maintained, however it is constricted by not enough land... if they would just put up a giant green windscreen over the right field wall, it would be cool.

Davie County HS who plays at Rich Park and ND are fortunate to have what they have. Great places to watch games. (ND softball field is amazing, too!)

With the new American Legion team coming to Clemmons and playing at West Forsyth, any word on the scheduled improvements?

Heard this weekend that Mocksville american legion baseball and the town of mocksville has approved a major renovation to Rich Park for next year. new press box, new dugouts and possibly a indoor batting facility.

Mocksvilles rich park is one of the best in the state. The only reason it has not held the state games is for the lights, press box, and lack of seating on the sides. The field would be even better if they did not have so many games played on it but I suppose thats not a bad thing.

North Gaston--Great playing surface it seems

Cherryville--I was lucky enough to see them and Shelby battle it out! What an atmosphere!

    Bandys--Nice seating area. Nice field

    Mocksville--Nice stadium feel to it

Shelby--nice since the legion playoff additions

    Nicest facilities

One of the nicest facilities that anyone will play on at the HS level is the Lee County High School field. Beautiful playing surface, very fan friendly from a fan standpoint. Great sound system and an unbelievable amount of 1st rate equipment at their disposal. The only negative is that the dugouts are kind of small.
