    Conference Games?

Why is the SoCon beginning conference play the first weekend of the season?

Dunno ... could have been a scheduling problem for the two teams. Maybe they agreed to move the games in order to free up a travel weekend later in the season. ???

    It is unusual though.

WCU doesn't play their first game until 2/19. 1st conference game (SoCon) is 3/11 vs App State.

Lenoir CC (JUCO D2) who took a trip to the 2004 JUCO D2 World Series picked up a win in today's season opener in Kinston. LCC is ranked #6 currenly in the JUCO D2 poll.

    LCC - 20
    Mt. Olive JV - 7

WP - Chris England (transfer from Coastal Carolina)

Jon Gatewood led the hitting attack going 5-6, but LCC tallied up 27hits total.

Not a bad start to the season.

Congrats to HPU that was awesome vs a really good team!
    Elon plays them on Tuesday.

As everyone knows Elon is in only their 2nd year in the Southern Conf. The schedules are made out several years ahead of time. That was the reason they played Wofford so early-it had to be worked in.

If Elon's hitting continues -they should have areally good season. I think they are loaded with pitching. The games vs Georgia next weekend and the series at Auburn the following weekend will define the rest of the season.

Big John Walker had a good game vs Wofford on Sunday!

All is well here at Methodist.....a pretty sound opening weekend...pitching stuggled a little but they will be getting it going.....hard to pitch when you're sitting on the bench for 20 minutes at a time. I'm sidelined for a little bit with a little shoulder trouble but I should hopefully be back to catch the 2nd game of the double header against conference foe Christopher Newport...I hear all is well at Elon
