What's the deal ? I thought Willard went to USC fo one semester, then transferred to a JUCO in Florida last year and now he's back. It's almost like USC uses the JUCOs as their own farm system.

Willard went to USC out of HS for the fall semester. Transferred to Chipola JC for the spring semester in 2004. Played summer 2004 in Coastal Plains League for the Wilson Tobs. He is back at USC now as a DH/OF for the Gamecocks.

Elon loses a really well played game to Ga 5-4!
Ga scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Matt Mcswain started and pitched 4.1 strong innings, allowing 3h,3r,and 6K'S!
Chad Tilley came in and allowed 4h,2r, and 3k's in 4 innings of work!
Elon scored 4 runs on 5 hits.
Not too bad vs #8 team after losing 9-1 on Friday with only 2 hits.

App. State is having a rough trip down in Charleston. (And a rough start to their season, after winning their first they have lost 5 straight.)
6-1 loss to Kentucky and 16-2 loss to George Mason. App. plays Charleston Southern today at 2:30.

UNCW has lost 2 so far to Maryland. 12-8 and 4-2... Game 3 today in Wilmington

South Carolina having no problem with Radford. On Friday, USC won 20-0. Saturday, 16-4. Sunday, rain delay.

Lenoir CC split with Montgomery-Germantown on Friday (15-5, 5-8) and swept a DH on Saturday against Macomb Community College (8-3, 9-5). LCC hosts MCC today at 11am.

NC State has won the first 2 against San Diego State. NCSU won on Friday 8-6 and Saturday, 8-5. Game 3 is today. Travis High picked up the save on Saturday in two innings of work. Gib Hobson is 2-0 for the Pack and Joey Devine has 3saves already.

USC and Lenoir CC finished their weekend with sweeps.

USC beat Radford 7-4 behind 2 Brendan Winn HR's (one was a Grand Slam). Jon Willard had a triple and is now 7-14 on the year with a double, triple, and homerun.

Lenoir CC swept Macomb Community College with a 4-3 win this afternoon.

UNCW took game 3 from Maryland, 11-6. Maryland made 5 errors... that might have had something to do with the score.

Maryland's errors did account for 4 unearned runs.
however UNCW's bats were back...16 hits off of 5 Terrapin pitchers.
Take away the 4 unearned runs and my math says UNCW still wins by 1 run!
Way to go Seahawks and keep those hits a coming! :xyzthumbs

Next up ...UNC at Chapel Hill...Tuesday 3pm

Elon lost today at Georgia 3-0. Elon pitched two freshmen in the game. Ryan Basham and Patrick Adams combined to hold the tough #8 ranked Bulldogs down and did a great job.

Bash went 6, allowing 1 run on 7 hits.

Now, if the bats at Elon can get hot again, the pitching is looking really good. The last two games against a team that finished in the Top 4 in the nation last year were decided by a score of 5-4 and 3-0.

That's pretty good baseball. Auburn will be an important series next weekend for the Phoenix.

WAY TO GOT RYAN. GREAT JOB PATRICK.

WCU split a DH with Wright State on Saturday winning 9-5 and losing 12-0.

In the 1st game, WCU catcher Blake Murphy led the Catamounts at the plate with a triple and HR and 4 RBIs. Jared Greenwood and Nate HAll also homered. Caleb McConnell took the win on the hill giving up 2R on 5H while striking out 7 and walking 1.

In the 2nd game, WCU came out flat and pitchers couldn't seem to get ahead in the count thus yielding 11ER on 18H.

In a cold, wet rubber game Sunday WCU defeated Wright State 9-5. Catamount DH Mike McGowan led at the plate with 2H and 2RBI. Greenwood and Fr. CF Barrett Shaft also had 2RBI. Fr. RF Steven Strausbaugh collected his 1st college HR. Luke Miller collected the win in relief and Brian McCullan added his 1st save of the season.

UNC-Greensboro is off to a good start, Sweeping Delaware. Delaware will want to find a different state to open the season in next year after getting hammered the past 3 weekends.

Newcomers Wes McCall, Adam DeLeo and Sean Snell all look to be getting early game action and making contributions. Wes made 2 appearances in relief in the first two games, picking up a win in one of them. He's pitched 5 strong innings of 2 hit ball. Adam DeLeo is pounding the ball at an .800 clip (hard to maintain that as a catcher) and Sean's perfect in his fielding so far. As the season progresses, his opportunities should increase.

    Way to go SPARTANS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was at the Georgia-Elon series, and we (Georgia) need some work but I'm glad to see that Sophomore Brooks Brown held Elon to 0 runs. Got drafted out of high school by the Braves, but did not play well last year. Seems he has really gotten off on the right foot. Elon should do really well in the SoCon. Really wouldn't be surprised to see them make the tournament at all. Maybe could upset a team or two in the regionals. Our hitting is struggling, but it should turn around. Elon was a good test for the first series of the season.
