Hard to say a lot till you see the teams play but this team has the potential to be one of SC's best in a long time. They have several good pitchers starting with Matt Gragg and Madison Bumgarner. Loads of talent up and down the rooster with some good power in Casey Justice and Brad Hardee probablly leading the way there. SC is always fundamentally strong and this year will be no different. If they can stay relativelly healthy everyone in the nw4a will be chasing them and they could go very far in the state

Yeah...scrimmages mean nothing other than giving the players a chance to knock some rust off. Actually, last years scrimmage was competitive too until Zac Ferry came out. I was impressed with the starters of Indy. They can all hit. They looked a little weak in the field, but I bet Coltrane will straighten that out.

All in all, it was a pretty good day to play some ball and the players had a chance to compete for the first time since fall. I look forward to these two teams playing 2 games during the regular season. Now that will be the real barometer.

Impact took the notice down on their site about the preseason poll coming out Monday. Maybe they changed their mind?

I would venture a guess that they didn't get the needed response back from all areas of the state. They might have received some responses but not enough to present a comprehensive picture. The voters on the poll are HS Coaches and members of the media.

As part of that guess, I would say that the HS Coaches have been just a bit busy the past couple of weeks and that the media, at this point, is relatively uninformed. There hasn't been any games played, so they also must poll the HS coaches.

With close to 400 high schools, coming up with any form of poll is a daunting task.

Of course, they could have just asked me.  Doubt it would have been "Fair and Balanced" (borrowing the phrase from Fox News), nor would it have been very accurate, but that's just a detail.

Think maybe you and I would have left out a key team or 2? I am learning this sandbagging thing from you and Braves pretty good.

Ahhhh .... there is a definite art to it....

You can't obviously lie, but you can overlook a few details here/there.

Secondly, you must look at the strengths of all of your opponents while stressing your own weaknesses.

The final result??????? Pick a team that doesn't have a supporter posting on the board and make THAT team your #1 ....   As the board grows and we get posters from more regions of the state, I'm now starting to review the teams from Southern Virginia so I can make them the new #1.
