Well, playoff action starts in a little over 1 hour from now. Post your 1st round scores here.

BTW, for those who wanna listen to some playoff action, tune in to WMNC-FM, 92.1 "The Big Dawg". That is the radio network for Freedom High School and the NW4A. CJ Stancil and company will be on at 7 pm to cover the Freedom/Garinger matchup and I think they also plan on covering playoff games as long as NW4A teams are still playing.

    Garinger 59
    Freedom 50

Game was really back and forth. Garinger woulld get their lead up 8 or 9 points and Freedom would come back with 6 of 7 unanswered. But a 3 point game with 5:00 to go, Garinger pulls away. The Lady Wildcats face Harding Univ, thursday night, 7 pm.

Congrats to the Lady Patriots to a successful season, hopefully they'll get back in the NW4A hunt next year.

Hats off to Freedom on a great season, and to Coach Fox in her first year, and for representing the NW4A nicely tonight! Look forward to seeing you what you have next year. :xyzthumbs

North Meck 69 East Burke 63

I didn't like the game plan for East. Helton should have taken many more shots. They had small players trying to post up against Lowery. Let's just say it didn't work. Lowery also reached over the top for countless putbacks. I would think East should be capable of beating this team, but it didn't happen.

Hate to hear that East Burke didn't win. I also felt like they could pull this one off. Wanna wish all the luck to Ashlei Helton as she continues her hoops career at Lenoir-Rhyne. North Meck gets the honor of play South Meck Thursday Night, Actually from what I have read, both teams played early in the season and North actually hung with South. We will see what happens Thursday.

Yeah, I would like to wish Ashlei well in the future as well. It's been great watching you these past few years. Nice job this year to the Cavs as well, and next year should be fun for all the NW4A as it could be a bit more of a log jam at the top....OH and GO NORTH MECK against South Meck!!!!

    Meca 8 shows strong tonight

With Garringer 69-60, Vance 60-47, North Meck 69-63, and Hopewell 73-46, winning tonight, THurs matchups will be fun to watch....too bad they aren't all at one site :(

Garringer @ Harding speed vs speed, pressure D vs. pressure D

Vance @ McDowell rematch of years gone by

North Meck @ South Meck height vs. height

Hopewell @ AC Reynolds discipline vs discipline

    North Meck vs South Meck

I saw this game and there was simply no answer for LaPorsha. She basically played catch with herself for numerous put backs. EB had no one including Helton who wanted to go inside against Lowrey. I saw no way they could beat NM unless they shot the lights out and quite frankly I thought EB would have shot the ball better in their own gym. NM made EB shoot on the run and not set their feet. When NM let them set their feet EB shot decent but, not good enough. As for the comment about NM hanging tough the first match against SM that is true. SM was fortunate to win by nine with Wicker and Horowitz out. In the second match at full strength, it was no contest and SM won by over 45 points. It was 63-17 heading into the fourth quarter. The game was on its way to a 50 point lead before Gaston put in the bench. I pick SM to win Thursday and it should be fun to watch.
