Sorry for the lack of details

Green Hope defeated Athens Dr. 17-11 in an early season pitchers dual - Ha Ha.

The net/net for this game was that both teams came out pounding the ball against pitching for both teams that is still looking its rhythm. I believe the weather did have a negative affect on the pitchers since the wind was blowing right in their faces. Eight players on the two teams had multiple hits with Todd Eberhart (Louisburg signee) for Green Hope collecting three hits and Rhett Miller for Athens Dr. also collecting three hits. Daniel Ottone (Athens Dr.) also hit a grand slam in the 3rd inning. Green Hope has tons of speed this year and stole 14 bases on the evening which set a new school record.

    WP: Shane Bowman

    LP: Daniel Ottone

Todd Eberhart 3-5 (1B,2B,3B) Green Hope

Rhett Miller 3-4 (2-1B,2B) Athens Dr. (Keep an eye on Rhett Miller. He is already one of the top left handed hitters in the state as a junior. Also has great speed)

As a side note, Shane Bowman who recently relocated to Cary from Florida and was the winning pitcher tonight seemed to be doing better than his parents who looked to be absolutely freezing. A cold night where they come from in South Florida is upper 60's.

Scores from the Southeastern part of the state.

Scotland County 6, South View 2
Richmond County 19, Purnell Swett 5
Jack Brit 13, Terry Sanford 3
    Lumberton 5, Ashley 2
    Cape Fear 3, Gray's Creek 2

Richmond has had two strong games this week from what I hear. Purnell Swett opened the season with a win but were pretty much over-run by Richmond. Scotland County is going to be good this year.

There is more action going on the the east than in the west right now.

Scores from the Charlotte area (not otherwise reported).

    Berry 8, Waddell 7
Charlotte Latin 9, North Stanly 7
East Lincoln 8, South Iredell 4

    West Charlotte at Olympic

Olympic gets the win at home yesterday as Brandon Hill gets the nod as starter.
Not a lot to discuss here.......the score was a lot to nothing. Several players had RBIs, even an "in the park" HR by a freshman (I think).
Brandon looked good in his 2 innings. His curve looked nasty. He got a couple Ks.:woohoo: :woohoo:
Olympic is looking ahead to Friday when they travel to Independence to take on the Patriots.
Have to give props to the West Charlotte team for hangin' in there yesterday in the wind and the cold!! Good luck to them in the future.:woot: :woot:

I thought baseball was a warm weather sport!!!!! Gotta LOVE this "winter ball"!!!:agreed:

East Meck @ West Meck today at 4, should be a good game...hopefully it warms up a little bit

Seth Stringfield should be on fire today on the mound, I talked with him yesterday and he is more than ready to go. So I'm looking forward to a pretty low scoring pitchers duel this afternoon over on Tuckaseegee Road.
