Who are the schools that should have a good team and who are some players to watch for?

With such a great Varsity team, there are alot of good players on jv. OF Shane Brown is a player. He runs a 6.8-6.9 60 yard dash. He's got a good arm and great range and can play all 3 outfield positions. As far as hitting goes, he's the typical leadoff man. A great drag bunter, he can slap the ball to the opposite field, and can pull the ball with some power. If he gets the ball down into the corner, he is gone for 3 bases. Another good OF is Andrew Fox. With 7 flat 60 speed, he has range as an OF. He's a good hitter that supplies some power. Eric Shoemaker and Thomas Ulmer anchor down a strong pitching staff.

West Henderson will have the strongest JV team they have ever had. This is even with 6 sophmores and freshman playing varsity. The future is good!!

Went by Cary High today to look around/help out/get in the way... they look alright. Seems like they are a lot younger than when I played. :laugh1: But from talking with the coaching staff, they think the JV team is going to be loaded. Not sure of names, but there were some real good kids out there who weren't wearing any Cary baseball gear, and that is usually the freshman who haven't purchased any yet.

    NM JV

In a JV showdown between North Meck and East Gaston, North came out on top thanks to a stellar pitching performance and great hitting. With a score of 14-1, Thomas Ulmer picked up the win on a strong pitching performance. On the offensive side, North batted around in the first inning, posting 5 runs. The offensive standouts for NM were lead-off man Shane Brown (2-3), Spencer Thompson (3-3) Andrew Fox (2-3) Erik Shoemaker (2-3), Blake Ewart (2-3). There is a rematch between North and East Gaston on Monday at East Gaston.

JV: Myers Park 7 Hopewell 6

Good JV game at Myers Park tonight. The lead went back and forth all game long. It ended when Myers Park JV pitcher Chip Gaul struck out 2 batters in a row and stranded the tieing run at 3B. Other key contributers on the Myers Park JV team were: Carter Phillips, Harris Ralston, Dean Boyle, Nathan Cudney, Dennis Elliott, Tom Girdwood and Hank Stevens.

Davie has a strong JV team.
They post a 2-0 record so far and are stacked with talent, even though varsity has 5 sophmores.
JV standouts include sophmore Heath Boyd at second, sophmore Justin Thompson at third, and freshmen Garrett Benge on the mound.
These are good players you should watch out for. Davie has a solid JV along with their already solid varsity. Look for good seasons from both clubs this year.
Anyone have any feelings on Davie this year?

    PERSON's JV TEAMS

Person's JV team played well in a 23-0 win over Northern Vance Wednesday, and a 12-4 (I believe) win over South Granville Thursday. Person's JV team should be pretty good with a good mix of 9 sophomores and 15 freshmen. Soph. LHP's Hunter Wrenn (6'4 175) and Elliott Tolley (5'10, 170) pitched strong for the Rockets as well as Fresh. LHP Christopher Morgan and RHP Brandon Wrenn did fine jobs in relief. The hitting and defense were solid in both games.
