LHP Greg Conrad pitched the complete game win for the Trojans, scattering 3 hits and allowing one unearned run. Greg also went 4-4 at the plate with one RBI. Wes Brunson (Jr. SS) went 2-3 for Olympic and also turned some gems, defensively. Nate Staton (Sr. Center) and Andrew Hudson (Sr. Left) also made some outstanding plays in the outfield.:woohoo:

The Trojans next travel to Vance on Tuesday, March 8th. Until then.......RSPM

    Hopewell 12 Myers Park 2

In an abbreviated game played tonight the Hopewell Titans recorded their first regular season win in beating the Mustangs 12 to 2 (4 1/2 innings - 10 run rule). Dusty White pitched the full 5 inning and gave up 2 runs (unearned) on 3 hits. The Hopewell hitters continued to rip the ball with White and Dozier going yard, and Richardson having a 3 hit game. All told the Titans had 13 hits and even some of the outs were hard hit line drives. There next challenge will be tuesday at home versus South Meck @ 4:30PM. These Titans are surprising a lot of people and if they continue to hit this way, anything is possible. :ylsuper:

    Charlotte Christian 2
    Kannapolis 1

Great pitching matchup between Garrett Sherrill of AL Brown and Jared Bard of Christian. Sherrill threw 6 innings, giving up 1 run (guy reached on a dropped fly ball). Bard went 4 or 5, and was sharp as well. Kannapolis scored in the top of the seventh when Alex Edwards walked, stole second, was sacrificed to third by Trey Griffin, and came in on a groundout by Jason Brown. Christian won it in the bottom of the seventh, with Ryan Query taking the loss in relief.

The young guys in the outfield are working hard, and they've gotten a lot better in the three games so far. It was nice to see them come through with the bats in the top of the seventh.

    The Wonders are 1-2 now.

Sorry I don't have any of the Charlotte guys names, but they have a quality ball club and a nice facility. I definitely want to see it once it's finished!

Charlotte Christian scattered 5 hits on the night. Tyler Kirkpatrick knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the 7th. Hits came from Daniel Hill- 2 (1rbi), McGuirt-1, Bard 1, Kirkpatrick- 1. Defensively, the Knights were superb up the middle. Kirkpatrick showed great range and one heck of an arm tonight. Early in the game a bloop fly tipped off the glove of first baseman K. Fulginiti , Tyler fielded it from behind first base, the runner tried to make it home, but was gunned down by Kirkpatrick at the plate. Several double plays were turned to end innings. Kannapolis put the ball in play quite a bit, but the knights defense held up committing no errors. Christian threw 4 pitchers with Bard getting the start and going 4, B. Gaines, D. Hill and R. Leander each threw 1 inning. Not sure of the A.L. Brown hit total, but guessing around 4 or 5. Great game on a cold night. Double Header with Cardinal Gibbons starting at 1:00 tomorrow.

Thanks for the report, coach. I had to miss this one tonight -- sounds like I picked a good one to miss.:D

I understand Dusty looked great and I hear that the Titans really hit well. I also understand that Myers Park kicked it around, starting the game with no-out consecutive errors in the bottom of the first. The Mustangs are going to have to play well defensively this year if they are going to have success. The South v. Hopewell game next week should be a good one. Maybe I can make it up there for that one, as Myers Park has the week off. I expect that will be a tough week of practice.
