I want to get my son a new bat but I really don't know much about the different makes and models. What do you guys think the best bat out there is right now?

As a pitchers parent, I'll say "wood" ... but that's another thread I guess

They are all good but the best bat is the one in the hands of a fundamentally sound hitter.

This is a good thread. I would like to hear the opinions of what people think the best bats are....not necessarily the most expensive, but what one thinks is the best.

In fact, if you could rate them:

    Good
    Better
    Best

Well I am seeing all models and makes this spring so far. But, the bat I have been most impressed with is the Nike bat. Ball seems to really pop off it right now. They are kinda hard to get in the US but can be ordered from Canada and are legal.

    Best Bat

As many people know, you cannot buy a swing. But in your case I see that you are just trying to find the best bat for the buck. In my experience I have heard good things about the TPX Response and Warrior. And the Easton Stealth is also beginning to appear more and more in bags. But from my standpoint I do love the Response, great pop for a decent price. Just my .02. By the way Braves, maybe we should make this a poll......:woot:

    Best Bats

Before buying any new bat check the 2006 restrictions to the NCHS Rules which will be in effect. They are listed in the handbook.

Pretty much all bats are manufactured under the same standards (for the most part). Check with your coaches or the league commish and find out what is allowed as far as barrel size and drop (-3, -5, -8). Then go find one that is inexpensive and most importantly, looks and feels good!!

Batting facilities like Grand Slam in Matthews have tons of demo bats for you to try before you buy.

But remember one thing: "It ain't the wand that makes the magician!"
