The final score of the game doesn't show the quality of game that was played. It was an great game. Both teams made erros, and both team made good used of the other's mistakes. Hopewell had a couple more erros and a couple more blown opportunities, but they still almost managed to walk away with the win. In the polls South may have the better team, but on the field, where it counts, there isn't much of a difference between the two teams. Watch Hopewell, if they keep playing like that, they will be a hard team to beat.

I agree, Hopewell does have pitching, as showed in their first two games, they just don't have as much depth as some other teams. South played a good game, from my point of view the majority of their "sloppy play" was comming from their catchers. Though they did work hard, there were a number of passed balls. I wouldn't go as far as to say that Hopewell should have won the game (because no team should win a game, it has to be a battle the whole way) but they had a lot of good opprotunities to win the game. I can't wait to see it when the two teams play again on March 23rd @ South. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another good game, with Hopewell even comming up on top.

Despite the score this game was a pitching duel. Going into the bottom of the 4th the game was tied 0-0 with each team having 1 hit. Wes Borden was the hitting star as he collected 4 RBI's for the night. The pitchers and catchers on both teams were awesome.

Being ranked #1 in the State is a tough honor to have because you are always playing a team that is jacked and usually facing their best pitcher. The fact that SM finds a way to win is a testament to the slogan "That winners find a way to win"

Zac Farry and Jeff Rockett graduated, which left the pitching thin. This was their 3rd game this week, so they were probably pitching sophomores. Very few teams can easily handle 3 games/week and have a quality start in all 3 games.

Providence is a tough team to beat your first varsity start. Indy will be fine when they get down to 2 games/week.

    Providence-Indy Final score

The final score was Providence 12 Independence 5, not 11-1. Not that it matters that much since it's still a loss. Independence threw three young pitchers which might help them in the long run. Remember it's not how you start the race it's how you finish!
