MOORESVILLE - Lake Norman scored all of its runs in the first three innings en route to a 7-3 victory over Mooresville in a North Piedmont 3A game Tuesday.

The Wildcats (3-3 overall, 1-0 NPC) scored two runs each in the first and third innings and three runs in the top of the second to pull ahead of the Blue Devils.

Lake Norman pitchers Kaley Ward and Hollie Turner combined for a three-hitter against Mooresville, giving up a run in the bottom of the third and two runs in the sixth.

Ward got the win for the Wildcats, giving up all three hits in five innings, while walking one and striking out three. Turner went in for the final inning, giving up two runs off a pair of walks.

Erin Poore took the loss for Mooresville, allowing seven runs off eight hits and one walk in three innings, while striking out two. Brittany Gregory gave up three hits and two walks in three relief innings for MHS, striking out one.

Four players - Ward, LaNell McIntosh, Ashley McIntosh and Kaula Conrad - had two hits each to lead Lake Norman. Lauren Marshall, Katherln Hauser and Lauren Howard added one hit apiece, with Howard belting a two-run home run over the center-field fence in the top of the third inning.

Rachel Drewey, Jonna Faulise and Poore led Mooresville with one hit each.
