Thanks Coach May... It was a great game, Pratt Maynard (FR/RHP) pitched really well for South Granville, and Lynch was good in relief. They played outstanding defense, as we did too, although their runners got in scoring position as a result of pick off errors, then they hit ground balls to drive in the runs. When I got home I looked in our book and our parent scorekeeper had no hits for SG. In looking back today I think the questionable hit was Todd's in the 1st. So I reported it as a no-hitter for Robbie Byrd (JR/RHP), his first career no-no. I thought we played well against a very good team, with no errors in the field. Leading hitters for Person were Robbie Byrd 2-4 , Blake Bowes 2-4 (2B, 2 RBI), Chase Abel (2-4), Travis Brooks (1-3, HR, 3 RBI), JD Coates 1-2 (3 runs scored).

South GRanville played well considering they had not played since March 3.
Good Luck the rest of the way!!

    East Meck over Garinger

East Meck defeated Garinger in 5 innings. Didn't see the game but heard Garinger is much improved.

    Wilmington Ashley 2
    New Bern 0 8 innings

Sorry for the late details, but my computer has been deathly ill.
    Hunter Ford pitch a great game for Ashley, 7IP, 3H, 1BB, 2k.
Joey Young pitched equally well for New Bern, 8IP, 4H, 3BB, 1k, 1ER
Ashley made some great plays in the field, especially Calvin Justus in right field who made 2 great catches to prevent runs from scoring.
New Bern hit the ball well at times, but could not find the holes and Ford did a great job in getting the big outs when needed.
Ashley scored in the 8th when Chris Eason singled, scoring a runner who had reached after being hit by a pitch and advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt. Ryan Hamme pitched the 8th to record the save.

As for the Jax-WB game, looks like Jax hung around and capitalized at the end. 3-1 WB going into the bottom of the 7th -- something like hit, error, walk, groundout, etc, -- Jax scored the winner on a dribble between the P-1B. Crosby Kellum pitched for Jax and Jon-Jon Mirra finished. Big win for Jacksonville -- as the Mideastern 3A/4A only sends 1 3A rep this year.
