    Vance and North Meck

Hats off to Zach, he threw a great game, and Vance didn't get a runner past first base. However, can't let the story end there...imagine Vance coming in at 1-6 to play the powerhouse North Meck and giving them all they wanted. Senior Kevin Riggs from Vance held them to 2 hits in 6 innings of work, a bunt single and a bloop double, and Vance's defense came to play. Just a couple untimely errors and they might still be playing out there, tied 0-0. Kudos to the boys from Vance for continuing to play hard this year, and kudos to Coach Robertson for keeping them focused. Here's hoping their hard work pays off in the future. And yes, North may have taken them a bit lightly. It should serve to wake them up for future games.

Brett Alter was very effective for East. He got the complete game win, scattering 4 Mustang singles. He outdueled Jeremy Mathis, who also pitched well, giving up only 7 hits and 3 earned runs himself. But East made their hits count and capitalized on a couple Myers Park errors. East also turned two double plays and was solid defensively all afternoon. East goes to 2-0 in the SW4A and Myers Park falls to 1-1.

Pretty weak outing against a pretty good ballclub resulted in the Knights getting hammered. Walks hurt again while timely hitting by the Aggies made the miscues count.

The Knight's McGuirt went 2/3 while D Hill made the all-tournament team.

Myers Park vs. East Meck Varsity

The game was not very noteworthy really, but a kid named Jordan Cudney made about 5 outstanding plays at 3B. Some tough plays kept going his way and he made them all. I mean really good plays, diving, coming in on excellent bunts, throwing on the run, strong throws, great defensive show... Attaboy. :ylsuper:

    9 innings

Not a lot of hitting for either team. Clark hit his NINTH! home run of the year in the bottom of the 7th to tie it at 1-1, spoiling the W for Wilson, who allowed just 2 hits in 7 1/3. Sophomore Ryan Anderson earned the win in relief and K'd the side in the 9th, including Clark and UNCC-bound Chapman.
