Games of interest today

Probably the biggest two games of the day are both down east in the Big East conference.

DH Conley squares off against Rocky Mount. Conley is 9-1 where the Mount is 10-1. Conley is currently currently ranked #1 in the state, but coming off their first loss of the season.

JH Rose faces New Bern. These two teams are ranked #4-#5 in the state currently. Rose has an 11-1 record, while New Bern has stumbled twice to a 7-2 record.

Of these 4 teams, 2 are going to be staying home come playoffs, so expect a huge amount of pressure in these games. In the Rose/New Bern game, Wake signee Garrett Bullock (Rose) will be facing UNC Signee Adam Warren (New Bern).

More locally to Charlotte (in my back yard so to speak), possibly the biggest matchup in 4A ball is Independence versus Central Cabarrus. Indy has dropped one game in conference while Central remains undefeated. Central is coming off the late inning loss to NW Cabarrus from the tournament last week and should be tough. Independence should start Robby Bray, so this should be a great game too.

In the Raleigh area, the most intriguing contest to me is the Green Hope versus Leesville Road matchup. This should be a real battle.

 

Davie vs. West Forsyth

this will be a good game. they went into extra innings last time they played and this is a big rivalry.

Ill be in attendance for this one as will most of fellow scouters. My only question is, will Greg Holt be on the mound? Hope so, big future ahead fopr that kid.

 

I agree that Independence @ Central Cabarrus is one of the top games in the Charlotte area today. This is going to be a battle for 2nd place in the MECA 8. I'm sure it will be a great game to watch.

 

From what I heard I think Brandon Johnson will be on the mound against Davie...Just what I heard dont know if it is true...

 

Davie v.s. West

Of what I know, Greg Holt will be on the mound for west. Im not positive.

But more importantly, John Mcdaniel will be on the mound for Davie, this kid is a great pitcher with a great future. If you are a scout this right handed junior should be on your list. He throws mid 80's atleast if not faster, pinpoint control with a wicked knuckleball that makes hitters look silly.

Gamecockscout23, have you heard of him before because he is arguably the best pitcher in the CPC.

 

Does anyone know who Davie will pitch. I will not be able to attend this one but everyone can fill me in on the details. Davie has some good pitching also.

 

Davie also has some good hitters to go along with those good pitchers

Whit merrifield (soph) is hitting over .500
Zach Vogler (junior) is hitting .400

 

Another fun game to catch today is Olympic versus Myers Park.

Olympic is off to a hot start and Myers Park is coming off of what could gently be called a tough week where they faced North twice and Independence.

This game is critical for both teams and could have playoff implications.
