    Olympic 3, Myers Park 1

Olympic travelled to Myers Park and handed the Mustangs their fifth consecutive loss. Greg Conrad went the distance for the Trojans, scattering six Mustang hits, striking out 4 and walking 2. Once again the story for Myers Park was a lack of timely hitting. The Mustangs were 0-12 with runners in scoring position. Ouch!

On the other hand Olympic got a couple timely hits -- a two out rbi single in the second by Aaron Hartley added to a first inning solo home run by Wes Brunson. The Trojans added a third run in the top of the third on an rbi ground out by Nate Staton that followed an infield single by Brunson and a fly ball double by Clay Smith, both on balls that could have been played.

Jordan Cudney came on in relief of Scott Brewer in the top of the fourth and pitched four scoreless innings, giving up hits to the first two batters he faced before shutting down the Olympic attack with five strikeouts and only 1 walk. He kept the Mustangs close, but they failed to get it done in the seventh with one out and the bases loaded. Scott Brewer took the loss, giving up two earned runs over three innings.

Olympic moves to 3-2 in the SW4A with first place Providence next on Friday; Myers Park falls to 2-3 with South Meck next on Friday.

The Blue Devils played tough as nails but left too many men on base and probably left Freshman pitcher Aubrey Meadows in one inning too long as WR Bret Hatley hit a 2 out, 2-0 pitch over the right center field fence to push across 3 runs in the top of the 8th. This was a tough loss for a young Mooresville squad looking to gain some respect in the very deep NPC. It does not get any easier as the Blue Devils head down to Kannapolis on Thursday.

Great pitcher's duel here. Craig Lyerly went 6.1 for the Mustangs to get the win, while Garrett Sherrill was the tough-luck loser for the Wonders. Cy Young (what a name!) induced a 5-4-3 double play to end the game after the Wonders got 2 men on in the 7th. The play of the game was the first out in the 7th when Jeremiah Worthington drove a ball deeeeep to the right-center gap and East's CF (I don't know his name but this catch was worthy of the Klutz kid they had in years past) made a diving rolling grap at the wall to rob JD of a sure triple. Wow. The winning run scored on a passed ball in the second inning.

The Wonders are now 6-7, 2-2 in the NPC.

West Stanly defeats Charlotte Catholic 6-5 in ten innings. Wil Huneycutt and Tyler Almond pitched for West Stanly. Wil pitched six innings and Tyler finished the game.
North Stanly defeats West Montgomery 3-2 in nine innings. I believed Justin Crowell pitched the entire nine innings for North Stanly.

    Independence 7 Central Cabarrus 6

This was a very exciting game to watch. Independence hopped on Central early with a double by Daniel Cooke who then stole third and was sacrificed in by Trey Starnes with a long fly ball to center. In the top of the 2nd Palmer for Central walked to bases loaded and Cooke hit a grand slam to put Indy up 5-0. But in the bottom of the 2nd Central scatter a few hits along with some Indy errors to make the score 5-4. Central then tied the game and then went ahead 6-5 in the 5th inning. In the top of the 6th Indy drew a walk with bases loaded to tie the game and with a sac fly to right by Evan Taylor Indy took the lead and never relinguished it. Robby Bray went the distance for Indy. This means Indy and Central both have 1 loss in the conference with Indy holding the tie breaker.

Great pitching by Brett Alter, defense and hitting contributed to the win for East Meck tonite...both teams were hitting but HR's by Justin Schummer and Taylor Bryant helped the Eagles take the BIG win...

If weather permits, East meets Butler at Butler on Friday...

It was a joy to watch these boys tonite! :trophy:

    WP-Harper, LP-Stringfield

I really can't say much besides this game went down the crapper when Seth Stringfield got shotgunned in the knee in the 2nd inning. The score was 1-0 with 2 outs to go, and the batter hit a line drive right back at him and it hit him in the knee and knocked him off of his feet. He got taken out of the game and was replaced with Sophomore B.J. Bowen. As far as I know Seth will be fine, but I'm not sure how long he'll be out. It was a heartbreaker because Seth was doing a very good job. Not making any excuses, but him being out of such a big game, taking his bat and his pitching out, destroyed the game tonight. Good play from Hopewell's Wesley Dozier and Dusty White helped them in the win. I think Dusty went either 3-3 or 4-4.

For any Hopewell followers, where is this Wesley Dozier going to school next year? (If he's a senior that is). Or does he have any offers?

    Also, Hopewell's J.V. team beat W.Meck 9-6.
