Congratulations Tom Porter! 7 inning perfect game. Hard to do considering all the little things that can go wrong. You can watch a lot of high school baseball and never see one of these.

    Hopewell 13 - West Meck 2

    Winning Pitcher - Brandon Harper

Hopewell bats were strong in this game with most of the line up having a couple of hits apiece- Andy Oliver, Adam Waters, Zach Turton, Matt Cochran, Wes Dozier. Dusty White was 4-4 with 2 doubles. Brandon pitched very well, only giving up a couple of hits. Hopewell is without its starting shortshop and lead-off batter Matt Gardner for several weeks (thumb fracture). Although both offense and defense were strong in this game, Matt will definitely be missed in the lineup until he is able to return for the Titans. WM's starting pitcher, Seth Stringfield, took a scary shot to the knee in the 2nd and was replaced by BJ Bowen. Hopefully, Seth will be to play again very soon. He is truly a leader for his team.

    Rose 8
    New Bern 0
Pitcher's dual between Garret Bullock and Adam Warren for 4 innings. However, the wheels fell off for New Bern in the 5th when 2 hits for Rose put runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Next batter hit a ground ball that was a potential double play, but an error led to bases loaded. This seemed to open the flood gates and Rose scored 5 runs in the 5th. Rose scored 3 more in the 6th off reliever David Towarnicky after an error again prolonged the inning.
Bullock kept the NB hitters off balance all night with a terrific performance, striking out 11 batters.

I also want to congratulate Tom Porter on his perfect game! Awesome accomplishment.

    Piedmont 8 Weddington 2

Piedmont (11-1) (6-0) came back from a poor outing against West Rowan to knock off rival Weddington.

Tim King gave up 3 hits and 5 walks and 1 earned run in the complete game. King did not have his best stuff until late when he struck out 5 of the last 6 batters which gave him 7 for the game. King also had a big 2 run 2B to get Piedmont rolling in the 1st.

Other hitting stars were Danny Hermann with 3 RBI's and Taylor Clontz with 2 RBI's. Rob Lyerly was 2-2 and two walks and scored 3 runs.

Piedmont hosts Charlotte Christian on Thursday and play @ Anson on Friday.
