I know it may not seem this way, but Indy @ W.Meck...W.Meck gave them a run for their money in the last meeting, with Indy winning 5-2, and Seth Stringfield is taking the mound after about 2 weeks rest (from being hit in the knee). I think West should give them another tough run over on Tuckaseegee Road tonight.

I look for both the Butler (5-2) @ Providence (6-0) and the South (4-2) @ Olympic (4-3) games to be interesting tonight -- it will be tempting for Providence and South to look ahead to tomorrow, when they will complete their 1-1 rain-interrupted game. If they do, they could get surprised tonight. These four teams and East (5-2) begin the second half of what is shaping up to be a great five-team battle for three state tournament spots.

    Glenn @ Parkland

Anyone out there going to the Glenn @ Parkland match-up tonight? Derek Koone (Jr.) pitched last night for Glenn at Rockingham through 6. Parkland started a right-hander last time these teams met but I heard Jon Helsabeck (Jr.) pitched Tuesday for Parkland against SWG and heard he was th ace. Anyone know who the starters are tonight. I cant wait to see this one for one reason: TALENT

    Glenn:
    Ryan Caldwell (Sr.)
    Nick Lowman (Sr.)
    CJ Beatty (Jr.)
    Kyle Boyan (Jr.)

    Parkland
    Chris Donathan (Sr.)
    Dusty Joyce (Sr.)
    Jon Helsabeck (Jr.)
    Sherome Bradshaw (So.)

    Glenn (8-2) (5-0) @ Parkland (5-8) (3-3) 7:00 pm

Definitely good talent on both sides. Ryan Caldwell(Glenn) just signed with Lenior-Rhyne and Romey Bradshaw(Parkland) is going to be a fun sophomore to watch the rest of the season and the next couple of years. Starting in center and batting in the 2-hole, he can fly, has some pop and plays ALL-OUT all the time. Also, defensive back in a pretty stout football program.

Glenn plays SW Guilford (10-2, 6-0) on April 27 and then again on April 29.

    Wake Forest Rolesville vs Wakefield

Wakefield beat Wake Forest Rolesville with ease this past Friday. NSCU signee Andrew Taylor, who doesn't have an overall winning career record in high school, got hit around pretty hard all game and finally came out in the sixth inning after throwing around 110 pitches. Zach Quate, App. St signee kept Wake Forest bats at bat with his upper 80's fastball, big sweeping curve ball and sharp slider.

Millbrook handled with Leesville road 9-0 behind the pitching and hitting of BJ Dail.

Sanderson pulled this biggest upset over Broughton.

One of the reasons I enjoy this website so much is the "accuracy" and Honesty of the posters. With that said I will post the real details of the Big Wake Forest Rolesville vs Wakefield match up at Wakefield Friday nite.

Wakefield jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a walk and SB to the #2 hitter. A fly ball to RF in which would have ended the inning with DP b/c the runner on 2nd was stealing 3rd ended up being a triple as the RF tripped and fell as he was setting his feet for a catch and throw. Ball hits and rolls to the RF corner. A single by Halford made it 2-0. He was at 3rd in 3 pitches(more to come on that later). A sac Fly that went 150 ft to RF ended up being thrown 25 ft over catchers head. Runner would have been out by 15 ft at the plate. So after 1 inning it was 3-0.

-A Drew Taylor blast made it 3-1 in the 3rd.
-WFR made it 3-2 in the 4th but had 2nd and 3rd with 1 out but a K and after a Intentional BB to Drew taylor to load the bases a ground ball 6 unassited ended the threat
-Wake Forest had all the momentum as Taylor cruised thru the 2-4 innings with NO hits allowed. My line score going to the 5th looked like this:

    Wake Forest 2 5 2
    Wakefield 3 2 1

Then came the bottom of the 5th: #1 hitter: A slow routine grounder to 2nd for a E-4, a sacrifice bunt not played put runners on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. #3 hitter K's. #4 hitter singles thru SS and 3rd on drawn in infield making it 4-2. #5 hitter Dowdy F-3. #6 hitter hits slow grounder to 3rd. Throw to first in the dirt for a E-5 ends up getting by 1st baseman down RF line making it now 6-2. Runner now on 3rd. #7 hitter now up and ball gets by catcher on 2-2 change up.(I do not know if it was a PB or WP as I was down the 1st base line). Run scores to make it 7-2. #7 hitter I think K's to end the inning. But anyway Wakefield scores 4 Un-earned runs on a Hit, a intended Sac-bunt for a hit, 2 WFR errors and a Passed ball/wild pitch.

Bottomline is the team that made the least mistakes won the game. Wake Forest hit the ball better than Wakefield. But Wake Forest was thrown out 5 times on the bases in the first 5 innings. Total hits were 7 for WFR and 6 for Wakefield. That includes the Routine fly ball in the first inning that the RF tripped and fell, and the Sac Bunt for a hit. Wakefield played better defense and totally ran the bases better.

Tough conditions with Temperature and 25-35 MPH wind making it feel like it was January. As for the prospects we know:

As for Drew taylor- He is now 9-5 in his HS career. I don't care about the W/L record but don't try to dump on the kid..... lets keep the facts straight. The bottomline is the kid can pitch. Just like Warren, Porter, Dowdy, Bullock, and the rest, you gotta have some help behind you. It is not a 1 man game as we all know. You play 1 position. He was 87-89. Was really pumped in the 1st inning and it showed. Settled down after that and cruised thru the 2-4 innings with 0 hits. Then came the ugly 5th inning. Wake Forest has a Freshman Catcher catching Taylor. He does a great job. But he doesn't quite have the arm strength yet and Wakefield took advantage. Every runner who got on base for Wakefield stole 2nd and 3rd within 3-4 pitches. That just puts tremendous pressure on your pitcher. Taylor ended up throwing I heard 129 pitches on just his 4th start of the season. He did come back out in the 6th after throwing 35-40 pitches in the 5th running his pitch count well over 100. Gotta question why you send him back out there after that 5th inning and sitting at 110-115 pitches. I think he lasted 3-4 batters with his Velo now 83-84. One scout got his bag and said "I'm not gonna sit here and watch them do this to this kid" and left. At the plate Taylor homered and is now hitting 21/36 for a .583 avg.

Zach Quate- I think he is a warrior. He was 84-86 with a Plus Breaking ball. Hung a couple and paid for it with the homer and I think a double. He just competes so hard you gotta love him as a coach. He can swing the bat also.

Steve Halford- If there is a better SS in the State i would like to see him. Boy is he smooth and has a absolute cannon. He had 2 of Wakefield's hits off Taylor.

Josh Dowdy- was playing LF tonite. Pitched a GEM Tuesday against Millbrook striking out 14. He is really on a roll on the bump. He battled Taylor into 2 BB in the game. just the ultimate competitor. May be throwing better than anyone around right now.

Wakefield will compete for the State Championship if they start to hit. I think the WFR outfielders had 3 plays all night. So they did not exactly knock it around. They are as good as anyone defensely and on the bump. They will be a tough out.

Wake Forest will be fine. They will battle for the last playoff spot. They swing the bat well. They are young. Start 1 Frosh, and 5 JR's. But defense wins games and 4-5 errors a game and base running mis-cues won't cut it.

    Just so you know....

I wasn't at the game and I just relayed what my very reliable contact at the game gave me. Hence, the reasons I didn't post any exact happenings of the game. Furthermore, my contact is a paid professional so I will tell him that you disputed Taylor's overall high school pitching record as well as the speeds you had him clocked at. According to my resource, he touch 87 only twice and threw 83-84 consistently. And just out of curiosity, you mentioned that "one" scout packed his bag up and left. Just how many scouts were at the game?
