    BaseballJunkie,

No hard feelings. I certainly understand your position. The sad part is people today say(report) things good and bad that lack accuracy. And why people report things that are intended to bring down HIGH SCHOOL athletes who are 16/17 yrs just blows me away. Thats why I like this board so much. You get the "truth" almost of all of the time.

To answer your question: there were 2 "FULL" time guys there. I am NOT including so called birddogs who do NOT get paid but claim to have affiliations with teams. Most of the full time guys were over in Chapel Hill watching that little match up b/w Miami and UNC. Taylor did drop down to 83-85 in the 6th after about 120-125 pitches. And the 35-40 pitch 5th inning took all the gas out of him.
There are plenty of guys on this board who have seen Taylor pitch and know he does not throw 82, 83, 84. If he's throwing 83 then something is majorly wrong.

Amen to that! I saw him the entire fall season, always in the high eightys and many times at 90 +. His speed is not as impressive as his ability to pitch. He pitches to get batters out not strike them all out. When you take that aproach you need a defense behind you. When a pitcher has to stand out there and throw that many pitches then you aren't seeing that kid at his best. I saw him this fall beat some very good teams, many times only throwing 6 or 7 pitches in an inning. If we are choosing teams, I will take him on mine any day of the week.

I 'll agree with you guys that Drew is a quality person and pitcher. I wish him nothing but the best in the future. I hope there is not gonna be any bantering back and forth over this one. But don't crack on a high school player, please.

Right on Coach !!!!! I've never seen any HS pitcher who didn't have a bad game at times.

We want to "talk about teams" and "promote players". Lets limit it to that fellas (and gals).

Speaking as a dad of a High School pitcher I was glad to see the last few post. These are still 17 and 18 year old kids that have pressures than just baseball going on sometimes (school, girl friends, recruiting etc.) when they take the field.

They are not going to always have their best "stuff" and even if they do, the plays behind them still have to be made. Don't "Crack" on the player...that's what makes baseball so great...it takes 9 guys to make it happen.

I couldn't agree more Dbacks. A big game like that or the N Meck/S Meck, New Bern/Rose game has so many potential College prospects in it besides the ones we all know about. Plenty of positives to go around just about those kids we haven't heard alot about yet.(the 06/07 kids.....As an example....the 08 catcher for WFR who caught Taylor and handled him extremely well. Not easy to handle LHP's in general but those who throw hard with movement, run Changes away, and throw 81-82 mph cutters are hard. The fact that he has caught him 3 times and has 2 passed balls in 16 innings is great.....That kid deserves recognition.......my hats off to him.)

I can imagine that Dbacks20 will attest to this statement strongly....and will applaud the effort by this particular catcher.
