    Freedom @ Watauga

    Score after 5 1/2: Freedom 7, Watauga 1

    Final score:

    Freedom 7
    Watauga 8

A 3-run triple by Hardee and a 2-run bomb from Holder ignited the comeback in the 6th. Nigro drove in the tying run and Hardee won it with a two-out walk-off single in the 7th. Freedom made 2 HUGE errors in the 7th. Anderson got the win with an inning of relief. Chapman and Clark did yardwork for the Patriots.

    JVs:

    Freedom 5
    Watauga 14

North Meck over Vance 12? to 1 in 5 innings

    WP: Pierce
    HR: Kellett

Slow start for the Vikes who didn't start piling up the runs until the 4th. Pierce went 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 Cougar hits in the first with two outs. Other than that, he was lights out.

    West Forsyth vs R.J. Reynolds

    West - 4
    RJR - 5

Reynolds won this game by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th.

With the bases loaded, no outs and WF leading 4-1, Nick DeRose hit a shot to the LC fence for a double that drove in 3 runs and tied the game. Jay Laramore was intentionally walked. A passed ball moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd, and then David Orr laid down a perfect bunt to score Nick from third with the winning run! What a comeback!

I'm sure the West Forsyth players and fans are shocked that they lost this game. And I know the Reynold's players and fans are shocked that they won this game. But there's always time to win in baseball!

Greg Holt pitched a great game for the first 6 innings for West Forsyth, giving up 1 run on 6 hits. He seemed to be in command the whole game. But when he gave up two hits to start the 7th inning, he was replaced with Nick Siega-Riz. Nick hit the first batter, gave up the double to the 2nd batter, intentionally walked the third batter and threw a PB to the 4th batter before giving way to Chad Jarvis. Chad threw one pitch and the game was over.

Jay Laramore pitched the first 6 innings for Reynolds. He gave up 4 runs on 11 hits, struck out 1 and walked 1. Torrey Johnson faced 4 batters in the top of the 7th, gave up 0 runs on 2 hits and struck out 1.

    (WP) - Torrey Johnson
    (LP) - Nick Siega-Riz

That's fabulous for Jack ... great news. Possibly the smartest ballplayer in the state .... I mean that as the "smartest person" who also plays baseball. This kids got a great future ahead of him.

    What to go Jack.

11 innings - AL Brown 3 NW Cabarrus 2 (Ouch)

What a game. Pitchers duel between Blake Ketner and Garrett Sherrill. Its like they say........you can throw the record book out the window when these two teams play.

Both pitchers came out rusty and gave up 2 runs each in the first inning. IT REMAINED 2-2 UNTIL THE 11th INNING.

Catawba signee Blake Ketner pitched 8 innings. Appalachin State signee Garrett Sherrill pitched 10 innings. Bryan Little pitched 1 inning for the win and Nick Daniels pitched 2.2 innings for the undeserved loss. The winning run came home with 2 outs when shortstop Kyle Seager committed an error (unearned run, the runner coming from 2nd contributed to it).

This game had everything: suicide sqeezes, runners gunned down at the plate, bases intentionally loaded with 0 outs, potential game-winning hits that fell inches foul. Garrett Sherrill definitely delivered the best pitching performance the Trojans have seen this year.

Too many great defensive plays to mention in this one and a whole truckload of strike-outs!!!!

    NW Cabarrus....200..000..000..00-----2
    A. L. Brown.....200..000..000..01-----3
