West Stanly played Piedmont tough as usual. Furr pitched a very good game after Piedmont had scored 19 runs the night before.

There were a few bright spots. Rob Lyerly had two 2B's and Danny Hermann hit his 3rd HR in two days and now has 7 HR's on the year.

Bryan Parker had his first poor outing of the year giving up 6 runs in 3 innings. The good news was Soph. Danny Baatz came in and pitched 3 shutout, 1 hit innings. This was his first varsity pitching appearence of the year. He is going to be needed because Senior Scott Estes has been lost for the year with an elbow injury. Estes had been the 4th starter on the staff and used mainly in relief.

World War 3 Independence vs North Meck

Coach Coltrane of Independence gets my vote for coach of the year on this game. Top of 8th score tied 1 to 1 bases loaded two outs and catcher is runner on third. Surprise steal of home on first motion from pitcher. What a call and what perfect execution. Bottom of 8th lead off double and then Coltrane calls wheel plat to try and pick off runner at second and would have if throw had not gone high. Runner for North now on third and no outs. No panic from Independence players and North fails to score for the 4th inning in a row with runner in scoring position. I have watched coach Coltrane call smart plays and his team execute them for the past two years. Independence is one of the best, if not the best caoched team in the city of Charlotte. Hats Off to coach Coltrane and his team!!!

Parkland gets biggest win in school histroy!!!

    Parkland: 15
    NE Guilford: 1

After losing to a walk-off blast by Jeremy Synan a month ago, the Parkland Mustangs wanted revenge and they got it. With only 12 wins over the last two years combined, the Mustangs upset the Rams by unleashing a first inning rally that was never imagined. The Mustangs scored 7 runs in the first inning. The most powerful shots of the evening were hit by Jay Saul, Bubba Donathan, and Jared Dodds who all hit homeruns. Jon Helsabeck hit a blast that gave the Mustangs the 10 run lead needed for the mercy rule in the 4th inning on a 390 foot triple. Jacob Ray was 2-3 with a pair of RBI's as the Mustangs gained momentum from the bat of every player. Cory Snyder threw 5 innings and gave up 3 hits and did a great job considering 2 of the hits were by standout catcher Nate Cockman. This is one of the most one sided upsets in school history and with the win continue to be in the hunt for their first play-off birth in 5 years.

Leading Hitters: NE: Cockman 2-2 RBI; 2B
    P: Donathan 2-2 RBI
    Dodds 2-3 4 RBI's; HR
    Helsabeck 2-3 2 RBI's; 3B
    Ray 2-3 2 RBI's :satana:

Crazy horse I feel your excitement. Tuesday night the Rams lost a heartbreaker to Rockingham that went 9 innings in the rain. Synan pitched a 7 inning no - hitter 0-0, that we eventually lost around 11:00 pm. in the 9th. When we got to Parkland we were pitching our #4 pitcher and were emotionally and physically drained. This is not an excuse, you just caught us at the right time. Hats off to a very good Parkland team, glad we could be part of your history making win. good luck the rest of the way, I would like to see the Mustangs in the playoffs!
