    WHS @ E. Burke

Cavs pull upset on their senior night, coming back from 3-1 deficit to force extra innings, eventually winning 5-4 in the 10th (or 11th?).

Tough luck for Watauga's Heath Holder, who pitched a heckuva game despite getting drilled in the face by a line drive in the first inning. He finished the game (pitching 6 then going to SS) despite looking like the guy with the bug bite that's "not that bad" in the commercial. He swelled a bit. Tough kid.

    JVs

    Watauga 8
    E. Burke 0

What else went down in the NW4A Friday night?

    Freedom - 8
    Alexander Central - 9

Freedom pushed the Cougars into the bottom of the 7th in this one. Going into the top of the 7th, the Cougars led 8-4. Corbett is replaced by McLain. The first 2 guys are walked. Then an error, misplayed balls, a couple of hits, and some walked. And the score becomes 8-7 with 2 outs and bases loaded. McLain strikes the hitter out but the ball escapes the catcher. Freedom ties the game still with bases loaded. Next, the Patriots hit a sharp ball to B. Lackey who makes a great play to save the Cougars.

So, Harrington leads the inning with a walk. Patriots force a strikeout and infield fly for the next 2 outs. Next batter strikes out but the balls passes the catcher. The throw to first hits the batter in the helmet and go to the foul fence. Harrington hussling the whole way reaches home to score the winning run for the Cougars.

McDowell beat East Burke on Wednesday 8 to 1. I do not know if they got to play the game friday night against South due to rain. If they did I have yet to here the results.

    Conference tournament seeding

Looks like Alexander Central has clinched #1.
AC beat SC for the 2nd time last night. Any word on the JV game?

So if Alexander beats SC, then AC Reynolds moves into 2nd place (assuming they also win on Thursday).

With the conference tournament starting on Monday, we could get some interesting pitching matchups for the last regular season game...
