    3A scores from the triad

    Ragsdale 4
    Asheboro 2

Lefty Jake Kensmoe picks up his 7th win of the season. Ragsdale is now 17-5 overall and 10-2 in conference. Tied with Eastern Randolph for first and coming to Jamestown Tuesday night for the conference championship. With SE Guilford beating SW Randolph tonight 5-4 they remain a game back at 9-3 in conference and there remains an outside chance the Tri County could end in a three way tie if the winner of the Ragsdale/ER game slips up in their season finales next week.

ANother score of interest Glenn crushes SW Guilford 14-0 to beat them twice in three nights. Glenn stays perfect at 10-0 in the Piedmont Triad 3A and SW Guilford drops to 8-2.

I've been waiting up for details from someone, but it looks like we won't get them tonight. Maybe tomorrow. The win gives the Eagles a sweep of the Sabres.

    WOW!!! Piedmont 2 Weddington 1

Bryan Parker with 2 outs in the 7th inning hit a 3 run walk-off HR. (He will only get credit for a 2 run 2B because his team mates crushed him before he reached 3rd) Piedmont (16-4)(11-1) wins the SPC outright. Weddington will now have to win the SPC tournament to get into the State Playoffs. Sun Valley gets 2nd place.

Jeremy Sain pitched a great game for Weddington with a 5 hit shutout going into the 7th. Zack Winchester had gotten Weddington on the board with a solo HR in the 3rd. Sain escaped in the 6th after loading the bases with no outs. After a ground ball to 1st that was forced at the plate and a S/O there was 2 outs. Cody Rape then hit a rocket over the C/F head that he tracked down for the final out.

Tim King pitched another great game with a 4 hit 12 S/O performance. His only trouble was in the 3rd when Winchester hit the HR with 1 out. Weddington followed that with a 1B and a 2B to put men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Tim then struck out the first man. Then Scott Summie (sp) tries to steal home with King in the wind-up. He would have done it but King doing what he needed to do, hit the batter to load the bases then struck out the next batter. King is now (8-0) with an ERA below .40. He will be the SPC MVP.

This game was as good as it gets. Two bitter rivals with both something to play for coming down to the last pitch.

    Tuscola 9, TC Roberson 8 (9 Innings)

Tuscola followed up their big win against Franklin on Tuedasy with a extra inning victory over TC Roberson last night on their home field. Roberson took an early 4-2 lead on HR's by Wes Williams and Justin Jackson. Tuscola tied the game 4-4 in the 4th on a Greg Munoz double and went into extra innings locked up at 5-5. The game was tied until the top of the ninth when Cameron Maybin hit a 3 run shot to give the Rams an 8-5 lead and what looked like a Roberson win. But the Mountaineers weren't done....an error (TCR's 5th of the game), a single, a walk, a double and a single later Tuscola walked away with an impressive 9-8 victory. Although David Sherrill didn't get the win, he pitched 8 1/3 strong innings to keep the Mountaineers in the game.

    WP - Merrill
    LP - Ramsey (4-1)

    TCR 16-2 (11-2)
    Tuscola 6-10 (6-8)

East tops South for 2nd time

    East Meck 000 003 1 4 3 1
    South Meck 030 000 0 3 5 1

    WP: Jake Rayner
    LP: Matt Layman
    Save: Brett Alter

After losing three straight games the Eagles came back from a 3 run defecit to overcome South Meck. Starters Jake Rayner and Ryan Morris pitched excellent games. South scored 3 in the 2nd with a lead off walk to David Rubenstien and doubles from Ryan Morris and Wes Borden. Morris was relieved in the top of the 6th with one out after a walk, sacrifice bunt, 2 wild pitches, and a hit by pitch. Matt Layman came in relief. East Meck lead off Matt McNichol proceeded to hit one off the centerfield fence first pitch for a 1 run double to make it 3-2. Brett Alter hit a bloop single into right field to make it 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Justin Schumer then hit a ground ball to second base to tie the game up. In the top of the 7th Ross Davidson lead off with a walk, advanced to 2nd on a pick off error, advanced to 3rd on a sac bunt by Taylor Bryant and scored on a pass ball. Great pitching and defense throughout the game. It was a great come back by the Eagles and i think puts them in a 3rd place tie with Olympic and Butler. South Meck is in 2nd place alone. Big games next week: Butler at East. Providence at Olympic. Myers Park at Butler. Providence at South. Should be very interesting.
