Nick Daniels pitched all 7 innings and got the W with 0 ER. Connor Bean had a 2-run home-run and filled nicely for Kyle Seager at short. Ryan Wildrick went 3-3, with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Blake Ketner played third base tonight and had 2 hits and a RBI. Nick Daniels helped himself with an RBI double.

A very young Garrett Braun only gave up 4 ER and went the distance for Lake Norman (when he develops his fastball, he will be awesome, he struck out the Faggart brothers several times and struck out Kyle Seager on 3 pitches in the first inning). The LN ss/2B combo of Joe Manser and Joesph Seaford also made some great plays.

NEXT UP: WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO POST EAST ROWAN/WEST ROWAN and AL BROWN/NORTH IREDELL SCORES!!!!!!

NEXT GAME: Final regular season game and senior night at home Thursday vs. A.L. Brown. The NPC title will be on the line. Come early to get a seat as half of Kannapolis will probably be there.

    Cap 6

    Wakefield 9
    WF Rolesville 4

SS Stephen Halford - 2 homers

    Sanderson 5
    Broughton 4

This huge upset of Broughton gives Wakefield a one game lead in the conference with three games to go.

    Hopewell 6, Independence 2

    WP: White
    HR: Waters

I didn't have a dog in this fight, but it was a doozy. This game started out as a dead heat between two heavyweights. The lead when back-forth until the bottom of the 5th when Hopewell put it away. Until that point, both pitchers (R. Bray for Indy and D. White for Hopewell) were controlling the game and it had the ear-marks of an extra-innings affair.

For the umpteenth game I've seen this season, the plate "seemed" to get smaller (as in teacup) in the 5th. R. Bray has a bigger break on his curve and it hurt him more as he had to come over the heart of the plate. Take nothing away from Dusty White. He threw strikes and got the outs, throwing about 85-86 in the early innings. The injury to Wes Elkins is hurting Independence too. Since that injury, Robby Bray has thrown a lot of innings. He may be getting over his soreness between outings, but the innings add up and you begin to tire quicker. It's just a guess on my part, but it may have been a factor. Last week, against North, I saw Robby throw quite a few pitches in the high 80's. His ball didn't seem to have quite the same pop tonight. A full week off, and he will be his normal dangerous self again.

To Hopewell's credit, they have marched through the conference the 2nd time and put themselves in a three-way tie with Independence and Central Cabarrus for 2nd place with North Meck one game ahead. Its the best 4-way race in the state this year.

Davie vs RJ Reynolds (Tue 5/3)

    Davie - 3
    Reynolds - 4

Oh my goodness... Did Reynolds ever pull this one out of their rear ends! They scored 4 runs with two outs in the bottom of the 7th to win this game 4-3. Davie committed 3 errors in the 7th to help Reynolds win this game. Keep the knives and razor blades away from the Davie players/coaches/fans tonight.
