    tournament seeding

    The way I understand that it works is that the top 3 teams in the regular season are locks forstate playoff births, 1. AC 2. ACR 3. SC. The only way that that can change if one of the seeds 4-7 come up and win the tournament. If that happens then that team would be the three seed in the state playoffs and SC would be out.

    Alexander Central-Watauga

    ACHS jumped out to a 2 run lead on a Bryan Corbett HR, but WHS went ahead 3-2 in the third on a 2 out RBI single by Holder follwed by a 2 RBI single by Presnell.
    Cameron Kerley hit a solo shot to tie the game in the 5th.
    Watauga pushed across 2 runs in the top of the sixth, but Alexander countered with a 2 run HR by Kelly McLain in the bottom half to tie it up.
    In the top of 8, #8 hitter Caleb Martin deliverd his 3rd hit of the game to drive in Tanner Martin for a 6-5 Watauga lead.
    In the bottom half, the first two batters,Corbett and McLain drew walks and with two outs,Lackey drove in both runners for the win.
    ACHS 7-Watauga 6
    WP-Kelly McLain
    Second win in a row,where the Alexander erased a one run deficit with two outs in the last inning to win.
    Congrats to both teams on a great game !

    Check this, but I have always been under the impression that if someone other than the #1 or #2 seed won the tournament, they became the #2 seed and #2 moves to #3.

    If South Caldwell wins the tournament they will become the number two seed in the state playoffs.

    NCHSAA handbook - baseball - page 32: Playoff Qualifers:The number-one seed from a conference will be the regular season champion with the number-two seed the winner of the conference tournament. If a team below number two in the conference wins the conference tournament, it becomes the number two seed. All other berths are determined by regular-season standings.

    Madison Bumgarner pitched, and went the distance for South.
