    What a week!!!

Does anyone feel confident making playoff predictions after seeing some of the results this week? What makes baseball great is you never know!! N. Meck loses, S. Meck loses, and Wakefield gives up around 25 runs in their last two games and has to make wild comebacks in both games to win. Rose loses and New Bern doesn't even qualify - what a week!!

I agree with you jhbaseball. Anything can happen this time of year. An example: Apex scored 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh last night to tie the game and then play some free baseball. Both FV and Apex notched a run in the 8th and Apex wins on a ground ball to short, throw was low and the first baseman couldn't scoop it. Kind of ironic, Coach Del Phillips was known for his scooping ability in his playing days. He was quoted last night saying, "I wish I had a video tape of it because no one would believe it." The game took 3:30 to play and Fuquay-Varina, a former state champion stays home. Way to go Del, seems like you have some of that first year luck like Coltrane had last year.

    SPC TITLE GAME

#1 Piedmont and #2 Sun Valley( 17-5) will meet tonight in the championship game of the SPC tourney. Sun Valley edged out Weddington 6-5 to advance. Piedmont(19-4) beat Robinson 4-3 to advance. As you can tell by the close scores, there has been some very exciting baseball played in Union County. Sun Valley has now secured the other play-off spot regardless of the outcome tonight. Congratulations to our Spartans!!!!!!!!

Did not go to the Piedmont game but heard that Timmy King won his 10th of the year and did not give up an earned run while striking out 14. Also heard that this was the worst defensive game of the year for Piedmont.

Don't know how tonight's game will be played since it has no influence on next week's games. It could be played like an exibition game with alot of pitchers getting action. But knowing the rivalry and the need for momentum it could be a classic.

    SPC TITLE

There is definitely going to be alot of action tonight as Piedmont takes on Sun Valley for the SPC title. I'm not sure of who Sun Valley can throw, 2 of their only known pitchers have thrown, while Piedmont has 2 starters at 100%.

on another note, it was the worst defensive game Piedmont has played this season, let's hope they got all the kinks out and take some heat into tonights game. as well, Timmy King struck out 16 on 1 hit, and walked 3, not 4 as the Enquirer Journal posted in today's article.

    COME OUT TONIGHT AND WATCH

Does this mean E. Randolph is #1, Ragsdale #2, and who is #3 in the Tri-County 3A?
