    Independence 6, Hopewell 5

Hopewell was leading 5-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. Indy plated 2 runs in the 6th and 4 more in bottom of the 7th to grab the win and a lock on post-season play. Hopewell is now on a very serious bubble.

Central Cabarrus 11, North Meck 1

This isn't a misprint. Central came to play. North stayed home and let a middle-school team borrow their uniforms. Central struck the ball great all night, played excellent defense, ran the bases agressively and were just flat out the better team. North was just flat. Central plated 6 runs in the 4th and tacked on another 5 in the 6th. I stopped counting the North errors at 8. Painful game to watch unless you are a Central fan.

Tomorrow night: Central versus Indy. Central is swinging the bats great and Indy is spotty at the plate at times. A Central win gives them #2 in the conference with Indy 3rd and Hopewell staying home. An Indy win will end the season for Central.

    Independence versus Central ....

..... was scheduled to be the late game at UNC-Charlotte. The first game, Providence versus East Meck went long because of a rain/lightening delay. There was no way they could have started much before 9PM at the earliest and more rain was expected to arrive.

I don't think this one got played or we would have heard. I do know that the alternate date/site is tomorrow @ Hopewell.

Championship Game reschedule Rain - Lightning

The rescheduled date and time is 6:00 pm on Friday 5/13 at Hopewell H.S., they'll need the sun to come out though to get it in. It rained hard over there last night.

The weather is supposed to be bad the rest of the weekend, clearing by monday/tuesday ..... These last minute games are going to be hard to get in.

Though a joint SW4A/Meca 8 championship works well in basketball when you are inside a Gym, putting them together is a bad idea.

Putting them at UNC-C where no one in Charlotte wants to drive during Rush Hour is a worse idea. There are a lot of area of the city that would find it nearly impossible to get to in rush hour traffic .....

    Dumb.....

    From reports:

    Central Cabarrus 4, Independence 3 ...

Indy got runners to 2nd and 3rd in the 7th but couldn't push over the runs.

Central Cabarrus takes 2nd in the Conference and travels to ACHS for a first round matchup. Central is an excellent hitting ball team, particularly the first 5 hitters in the batting order. They should prove to be a good challenge for ACHS.

Independence takes 3rd in the conference and travels to North Forsyth for a first round matchup. Robby Bray should be rested for the game and give North Forsyth a good contest. They went 11-3 in conference play this season. They are a solid team top-to-bottom with a great power hitting middle of the order in Bray, Cooke and Nicholson.

Hopewell, who played great down the stretch, winning their last 7 conference games and losing in the bottom of the 7th to Indy stays home this year. It's sad to see Dusty White end his HS career, along with Brett Richardson and Matt Gardner, but all 3 will be playing next year at the college level. Good luck guys.
