A previous thread about North Davidson's field got me to thinking about some of the best fields in the state. Let's take an informal poll about what everyone thinks. Being a North Davidson grad and a former coach there, I'm partial to that place. The playing surface is top notch, but the atmosphere (seating etc.) could be better. That being said - I also know that Rocky Mount has an awesome place, McCrary Park in Asheboro is sweet and the playing surface at Ragsdale is also very good. What do you guys think???

I have to agree with you about Rocky Mount. The field handles water great. I'm not real crazy about the drop from infield to outfield though. I wish the stadium hadn't been torn down. We could be on the verge of getting a new field. Hopefully the contract to construct the new RMSH will be let in about 2 months.

Davie County's Rich Park is a very nice field. The only slight problem is their lack of seating on the sides. It's a well cared for field.

Guy Smith Stadium in Greenville. Far and away the best I have seen.

    but be careful

the light poles and flag pole and scoreboard supports and an enormous power box are IN PLAY -- and the flag pole ain't even protected.

deal is a sweet place though, my only real objection is that the batter's box looks like a mountain landscape -- someone get the tamp out

north davidson, south meck, guy smith, and victory christian are the nicest fields i've seen

East Meck and South Meck are the class of public school fields in Charlotte.

The one's I would like to see and haven't:
    - Manteo
    - Victory Christian
    - West Henderson
    - North Davidson
    - Watauga...especially when they play Alex Cent

Lee County, Fuquay, and Orange are three of the nicest fields I had ever played on at the HS/Legion level. It seems like Laney had a very nice field, atleast compared to the other Wilmington schools, I have never seen Ashley's.

Lee County's got it all -- great field, nice stands, spacious dugout (well, they have about 40 kids on their roster ;) ). Coach Spivey does a great job down there in Sanford, only downsides are the hike from the dugout to the foul line/playing field and the light poles on the field in foul territory... I also think there are some wires that interfere from time to time out there.

Fuquay has small dugouts and a more compact field, but a great surface. Great high school baseball setting, everyone is right on top of the game.

Orange is nice basically because of the playing surface.... stands and surroundings could use some work.

    Charlotte Christian

Now that Charlotte Christian's renovations are about complete (it only took 6 months to finish!!!) I'd have to say its easily in the top 5 in the state. The playing surface is top in the state, the grass is like carpet (just dont leave the tarp out to long or itll CHAR the grass like it did this year), go out and see it, or drive by it on sardis rd. and tell me what you think!

But overall id say south meck is #1, that new scoreboard is sweet by the way

Victory Christian has the best field period!! Soon they will have lights. It's by far the best.
