What are the best high school rivalries across the state. And is there a memorable game that you have in mind?

The best that I have seen is the Providence vs South Meck. The game is not nearly as bitter as they used to be because of teammates showcasing together, but 4 years ago and later, these two teams Hated each other. When you came within 2 miles of each other's campus, you could feel the tension. The students of the home team always barricaded the entrance of the opposing teams arrival. You had to fight your way on to the field. The parents nor the players liked each other and they would go out of their way to show it. The coaches disliked each other, the players disliked each other, the parents disliked each other.....and their dogs hated your dogs. It was great!!!!!! No other game like it in Charlotte.

Now..it's different. It's almost like having a family cookout. The players are teammates on summer teams. The coaches are next door neighbors. The families get together, the dogs mate ...and one of the worst things. We will have a Providence moderator on TBR :D

Please...take me back to the old days.

These two are not 5 minutes apart. They used to both be 4A but now Glenn is 3A but the rivalry is still there. Yes 2 of the coaches don't get along well...Coacj Plaster for East and Coach Fowler for Glenn...the reason.....Plaster plunked Fowler in the head when they were rivals at east and glenn and well lets just say they aren't fond of each other...The town of Kernersville always comes out when these two play and there is always an exciting game no matter what..throw out the records for this game they always play for the pride of Kernersville

This is a long running fued that has intensified this year with both schools being cut into 3rds next year to creat Porter Ridge.

The conference tournament championship game, which meant nothing but pride, was a very intense game. Both players and parents were getting into it before the game was over. Even heard a rumor it carried over to "The Rock" at Piedmont Friday night.

If somehow both teams win today and tomorrow then next Tuesday at Unionville could be the wildest baseball game ever played in Union County.

That's a game that I would like to come watch. I'm looking for this kind of feedback because next year, I'm hitting the road to catch as many rival games as possible

Cross-town rivals: The NW Cabarrus Trojans & the AL Brown Wonders

I knew you could throw the recordbook out the window when these two played even before K-Town caught on fire at mid-season. This was my first year following the NPC varsity and I thought the NWC/West Rowan match-ups would be just as intense ------ but man, was I wrong. The 2 Brown/NWC match-ups were unbelievable-----an 11-inning nail-biter and an 8 inning winner-take-all NPC championship that ended with a play at the plate ------ IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!!!!!!! :ylsuper:

oh yeah, one of NWC's best hitters left to go play for AL Brown, which made things even more interesting.

BUT TRUE: These guys don't really hate each other because of legion ball, showcase and the above-mentioned reason.

I knew you would have to bring those two losses up :D:D:D
and they were both close, hard fought games. The first time that I had heard the name Northrup used as an adjective. But I liked Bobby. He was a hard nosed player.
