Robert got the win to go to 7-0!

The Tar Heels held on after the storm delay and won 5-4. Robert didn't return after the delay, as it was the third delay of the night. Gastonia's Jonathon Hovis came on for the final 2 1/3 and got the save. Thank goodness Jay Cox hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 7th to make it 5-1, because the Tech bats came alive in the 8th and 9th, scoring 3 runs to cut into the UNC lead and make it a real nail biter. Ho struck out GT #3 hitter Steven Blackwood with two out and the potential tying run at third to end the game. Freshman Chad Flack also homered for the Heels, his 14th homer of the season. In his first game back since a pulled hamstring, second baseman Greg Mangum, another Charlotte native, was 2-4 at the plate and was also Robert's best friend, with at least three tremendous defensive plays on the night.

    Robert's line:
    6.2 IP, 27 BF, 1 ER, 8 H, 5 K, 1 BB

Way to go Woody! Hey Prep, are you still breathing?

:grouphug: Hello Red Bear -- I considered several other smilies, but thought maybe this one would make you feel better.

    DodgerBlues,

Thanks for the smilies. I do feel better! Like you, I considered many different ones - some more appropriate than others. I guess things are kind of slow on the prep front right now. Good luck to Woodard in the games he pitches - hope the Heels lose all of the rest!

Woodard did an excellant job of pitching last night and its the first time I've seen him pitch. I don't think I saw him get one above the low 80's..........just a great job of keeping the batters off balence I guess.........

I always enjoy going to "The Hill" Woodard, savvy as usual, battled, gave up a few hits early on, but Mango should be receiving a steak dinner soon for all the runs he saved last night. The umpire behind the plate was very inconsistent. After all, I had a great view; I was under the camera well behind the plate staying dry. Sure hope Sugarjet (the Dad) can keep in touch with me. [Chickens still need 2b fil-A'd]
