With apologies in advance to by buddy RedBear, I posted some good news about Robert Woodard in the Next Level section. Take a look! (How's that for advertising, O?)

Although this is a great honor...the real selections of ALL- ACC are being announced tonight in Jacksonville. I doubt you will see many changes though.

My choice of Rookie of the Year is Chad Flack. The kid has had a phenomenal year so far

Same result from coaches' "official" team

The results of the coaches' vote were released last night at the banquet and, at least for Robert and his three Tar Heel teammate, the results were the same.

While Chad Flack would have been a great choice for freshman of the year, Matt Wieters at Georgia Tech was a near unanimous choice as he had a phenomenal two-way year, hitting .376 with nine home runs and 63 RBI and leading the Tech pitching staff with five saves while posting a 3.00 ERA. I first saw Wieters sitting with you, Braves, at a Diamond Devils game aggainst the Miami Thunderstorms in Jupiter -- remember? He was catching that day for the Diamond Devils and had the scouts buzzing around. The kid can do it all.

Having watched Matt for 2 months last summer with the Diamond Devils and seeing him play twice this spring with GA Tech, I am certainly not surprised that he was freshman of the year in the ACC. The guy is not only a top talent, but he is a team leader.

Congratulations to Matt and his family. His Dad, Richard, was in Chapel Hill Saturday to catch the final game of the UNC - GA Tech series and then back on the field teaching at the Diamond Devils practice in Charleston on Sunday.

Two other talented players were not far behind: Chad Flack and Taylor Harbin.
