THankfully I get to spend a few weekends this summer hanging out with you and watching the boys play their final summer before college. So this isnt goodbye - just a comment. . .

Class is an overused word, but it really describes you, and Tom. And I dont mean 3rd class. I still remember the first day I met you - you volunteered to keep the books and showed me you charting system for pitches, etc. And you did it with joy, providing a real service to our team. That's you - sacrificing so others can elevate!!
I look greatly forward to following Tom in college, watching my son get the opportunity to try to hit against him, and being an Elon fan when you aint playing us!!! Go SoCon.

Gonzo made the very first post, followed quickly by playme. .... we've seen it over the past few years. Once your player leaves HS, it's hard to keep up with the action. It's a dis-service to the players to just "hang on". New people with a passion for the kids step up and it becomes obvious that it's time to step aside. These last 3 years, I've strived to inform people about recruiting, the NCAA, importance of grades, etc. Hopefully, some of it took. The individual player and his future has been my emphasis instead of the HS teams.

We (collectively) have asked LarryD to allow us to expand on the "Next Level" forum and I plan (with a LOT of help - thanks "rc") to move in that direction, expanding the college coverage. Part of that move is also dropping my role as a moderator on the HS side and letting new blood move in and take over.

It's up to the members of the forum to keep things going. There is a lot of energy on the board now and new members are added constantly. It's expanding around the entire state. It's also up to the members to maintain the standards that were set ... that the forum would be a safe place for the free discussion of HS baseball and players, without fear of slamming or attack. That's all we ever really wanted.

So ..... as a moderator .... this is my last post. My son has finished his last HS game and is getting ready to play his final summer contests before moving off to the college environment. We are really looking forward to it and have confidence that the board is in great hands.

There are too many friends to say "bye" too and I'm not really leaving, just moving over and saying that my time has passed. Good luck to Mudcat, Caroliner, SoutherNo1 and the other new leaders on the board, but I think you will have (or continue to have) a great time in here.

Braves, rcbbfan ..... you guys are the absolute best friends a fellow could ever have. It's been a pleasure to banter with you over the years.

Our kids played against each other when we came down to Huntersville each summer for the PONY All-Star tournaments. Man.......how time flies. I probablly wont post much after Legion ball but I'll still hang around. I film for Mooresville HS football (since '99) so I'll be posting some prep football scores for as long as I can.

Bruce Porter - IMO

Great guy - with a great family. You all deserve the best that life has to offer.

I look forward to many many more years of friendship - and baseball banter - and following your son - who is - IMO- one heck of a baseball player.

Forever grateful for your help.

so NCBBallFan i see your son is going to Elon U, great school great team, maybe he can break out NCAA tourny slump. Look foward to seeing him play next year
