    thanks, Hitman...

I am hoping Pops will give us a good first hand account of the game since he was there. Hate it that NC lost.

It is a difficult game to report on. The pitchers for both teams changed so frequently that none of them really ever got into a good rhythm. The batters were seeing a different guy on the mound every time they came up. The NC defense was outstanding. SC committed 4 errors. NC didn't get any timely hits when they got runners on base and SC did.

It was great seeing all of the talent. I'd take that team from NC and play anywhere in the nation against any other team of seniors. I would have liked them to get a chance to work with each other, learn each other and make the adjustments in the field, on the mound and behind the dish, but the NC Season ends so late compared with SC.

The strike zone was about the size of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, turned sideways.

I've said it to someone else ... I would like to see this as a home/home series on Saturday/Sunday. Let the pitchers go a bit longer and get into a rhythm and also make the SC players come up to NC for a sunday game. It would be a more honest test.

All in all, though ... some outstanding ball played. The NC infield was spectacular defensively. Wil Boyd can cover the state of Rhode Island in the OF.
