tj21, you may be able to shed some light on this for me and other Lexington folks. I know the State Tourney is double elimination - but do you play every day? If you get into the winners bracket early, could you have a day off. Just wondering, cause I'm curious as to how much we can get out of our ace left-hander.

9nine9,,,, the state tourney "IS" double-elimination. And yes you definitely want to get into the winner's bracket and STAY THERE. I haven't got the exact dates in front of me, so I don't know if you'll get any days off,,, but if you make it through the winner's bracket finals, you'll be in good shape. Because anyone coming out of the loser's bracket possibly will have to play an extra 1-2 more games,,, maybe more. The loser's bracket will definitely exhaust your pitching staff.

They usually don't give any days off, because they save a couple days at the end in case you have rain.

    Again, Good Luck !!!

    tj21,

Thanks. I haven't seen any info either. Usually by now there is a website dedicated to the state tourney, isn't there? I'm sure the folks in Cherryville will get that info out on the web soon.

Do you mean going through the loser's bracket isn't the prefered route? ......Just kiddin'

Winners bracket would be huge for Lexington, especially since they are without their #2 (Andrew Hunt - ACL surgery).

Thanks for the encouragement. In my (biased) opinion, Lexington will represent the Southern Division well. The coaching staff (Griffin, Shoaf and Stone) and Mr. Lippard try to show respect to the game by doing things first class on and off the field. This will be a fine send off for Mr. Lippard, who is retiring from his Athletic Officer duties after 21 years. I couldn't be happier for everyone involved in the Lexington program (Coaches, players, Legion officials, parents, fans). Lots of smiles at the on field celebration last night. I know for a fact that since he has taken the job, Coach Griff has always said "If you guys put your mind to it and have the want to, we can play all summer long." This year they get to.

9nine9,,,, I remember last year (2004) when Kannapolis won our 2nd consecutive Area Championship,,,, I specifically told your coach that Lexington probably played us closer than anyone (other than South Rowan) during our run to the state tournament. Your coach was frustrated then, but I could tell he's a class act. I'm happy to see your organization get this opportunity. Just tell your boys not to get caught up in all the hoopla and keep playing the way that got them there. You should do well. TtimenKtown and myself may even come watch you guys play a game or 2...

...that is if we can get a driver...
