    Has anyone had any experience with Doyle Baseball and their showcases? If you have, I would like some feedback. It does not appear to be horribly expensive at $185 although there are options that can run it up some. There is one being held in Raleigh NC on Sept 18th. A man called the house and said my son had been recommended by a scout, that attendance was by invitation only, and that he was sending him an invitation - which he did.

    I know some of these are excellent opportunities and others are little more than costly practices. I don't know much about Doyle other than what is on their web site. Comments, good - bad or indifferent?

    I think they are a reputable outfit and run a quality school/academy. My son attended it last year. I wanted him to get his feet wet with this type of environment and it served it's purpose. Worthwhile investment.......not sure. Waste of time and money.....no.

    Thankyou all for the feedback. My son also received an invitation to the Perfect Game Eastcoast Underclass Showcase in Durham in mid-August. If I am going to spend the money, I am interested in exposure and the best bang for the buck. Based on the comments, I will just have him attend PG as he is already fairly well comfortable with the showcase format after having attending a showcase at U of South Carolina showcase last fall, the Impact Summer Showcase in Columbia this summer, and a recent pro tryout combine.

    Upon reflection of the last 4 years of showcasing, here are my thoughts. Unless you have a son that has the talent that will gather national interest, your best bang for the buck will always be a regional type event.

    ...and if you have a pretty good idea of the schools interested in your son, I highly recommend that you attend the camps of the one's that you are interested in.

    You will never go wrong attending an Impact Invitation Only showcase, but another organization that is starting to gather momentum and make a name for themselves is the Copperheads. They are rising above most others and are doing it the right way. In the years to come, I believe the Copperheads will be to our area what East Cobb is to Atlanta.

    MVaughn: My son has attended both PG and Impact Invatation only showcases. The PG one last year held at UNC was very good as far as instruction provided, college coaches in attendance, Feedback from PG on all player is provided and your son's scouting report will be on the PG website for all scouts to see. The bigger impact showcases are good because there are usually lots of college coaches there but your son will get limited mention on the Impact site, (unless he is one of the top prospects at the showcase) and you will find it difficult to get any feedback on your son performance. I found PG to be a good value for what I paid but this is only my experince. I Still beleive the best value is to attend the camps of the schools your son is interested in attending. There is a lot of money being spent on this stuff now so you should search for your best value. Good Luck!

    highntight;
    My son attended the invitation only Impact Showcase in Columbia back in early July. It was a very well organized event and extremely well attended by the college coaches. I was pleased by the organization of the event and the attendance. However, I too was a little dissappointed at the feedback. About the only thing my son brought back with him was his 60 time and fastball speed. Overall I feel it was a good experience as he had never worked out in front of that many college coaches before and it gave him a chance to get over the jitters.

    It will be interesting to see how the Perfect Game Underclassman showcase compares as this is the first one of theirs that he has been able to attend. I hope for the extra money, in comparison to Impact, that he will get more feedback. The PG event is three days compared to only two days for Impact's so I would think that there is more time for instruction and discussion. Either way, I'll find out in mid-August.

    You are correct. Impact does not give feedback about your son's performance. But to be honest, PG can be a little disingenuous about theirs. Their motive is to get you to come back.

    This may be an area that Andy Partin will consider in doing. This type of feedback for him is constructive.
