Warden, glad that you put up the stats on Davon. He had a great game tonight. On the other hand, the D got a lot thinner when all-conference linebacker Brent Wilson went down with a dislocated knee cap. Add to that the uncertainty of the Kincaid kid and, well, you just never know. Josh Thomas had a heck of a game tonight, falling on 3 fumbles, one of which he caused. McDowell is different this year. The "D" still isn't great, but there seems to be a little more fight in the kids, at least from what I saw tonight. I sure hope that they can string a few together. They deserve it. Bigdan and Warden, when was the last time that McDowell scored 41 in a game??? I think that it took about 4 or 5 games last year just to get a total of 41 points.

On the other hand, I am going to Mooresville in the AM. I know that I will be seeing at least one HUGE Mooesville fan. Is that score accurate???????

Blockhead...McDowell scored 50 on South Caldwell (28) back during the 2003 season. (By the way, concerning Wilson, what is the timetable to return from an injury like that?)

Without a doubt, this was the Titans' best performance since that game and in my opinion, in about 4 years. They looked great and didnt give up like they could have after that embarassing loss to Roberson in Week one. The defense looked great before Wilson went down and then began to look spotty. But, we still forced turnovers and converted from those turnovers. It was a damn good performance that they can build on. East Rutherford is a tough team but if we can play like tonight, we'll be tough to beat.

FYI, Michel Hollifield from Mitchell outperformed Davon on rushing. Hollifield rushed 24 times for 224 yards.

first off, good to hear from you blockhead. Don't be a stranger.

Last time I remember a high scoring game was the 50 point game against South Caldwell in 2003. Warden and I were talking about that tonight, that score was one of those deals where it was a small to begin with but quickly grew like a snowball going downhill.

I agree with your views about McDowell so far this season. I didn't make it to the Roberson game last week but I think Coach Haynie did the best thing when he just told those kids to forget that game ever occured. Roberson is too fast for McDowell. And it looks like those kids took his words to heart.

That first drive was one of the most impressive opening drives I have seen a McDowell offense operate in quite a long time. Davon is going to be a workhorse this year for the Titans. Izzy Swepson also impressed me. For the first time in years, McDowell actually has a QB that could throw a deep pass if they needed to. He didn't connect with any passes tonight, but it's there just to keep the defense a bit more honest. Man what I would give if we had more depth to where half the offense didn't also have to play defense.

I'm also very pleased with the passion that these kids are playing with. It's a complete 180 from last year. Many times during the night those bench players were inspiring the kids on the field and the fans in the stands to make noise. It's definintely a different attitude in Marion this year than what it was this time last season. As you have said, the defense is not quite there and once again depth has a lot to do with that. Losing Brent Wilson tonight was very tough, but after the initial shock, the defensive intensity came back. With Wilson gone, Mitchell took advantage by going up the middle and getting some big yardage.

This is indeed going to be an interesting season of McDowell football. There may be some games once in conference play that may be exciting, high scoring games that are decided on the last possession. With tonight's win, McDowell is 1-1. Their next game is a tough one at East Rutherford, but I honestly feel this team's confidence is gonna build, even without Wilson and Kincaid out there and I find next weeks game now as being a winable game.
