South was held out of the endzone until the five-minute mark of the fourth quarter. They liked it so much they got back again -- with 36 seconds left, from a couple yards out, instead of taking a knee. I suppose 22-0 will look better to the bowl committee than 15-0.

A game effort by the Pioneers, who I believe had 1st and goal while trailing 8-0 late in the third quarter, but came away with no points. South got a safety and a pair of field goals to lead 8-0 at intermission.

Watauga or McDowell are probably still your best bets for homecoming in the NW4A, but that running back for the Titans and the Pioneers D might at least make it interesting.

Mooresville trailed 7-6 at the half but drove the ball down Statesvilles' throat in the second half to get the win. HB Jashaun Pinkston 132 yds. and FB Braxton Brannon 129 yds. were the workhorses on offense. The Blue Devil defense should have gotten their first shut-out of the season but a turnover by their offense inside the 5 yd. line gave the Greyhounds a golden opportunity which they capitalized on in the first half.

WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT HOW THE KID FROM WATAUGA, #57, IS DOING? I AM A SOUTH CALDWELL FAN AND WE ARE ALL CONCERNED, ESPECIALLY THE PLAYERS. ALTHOUGH SOUTH CALDWELL WON, YOU WOULDN'T KNOW IT BECAUSE HALF THE TEAM WAS CRYING IN THE LOCKER ROOM. WE HAVE HEARD IT IS VERY SERIOUS AND HE HAD TO BE FLOWN OUT TO BAPTIST HOSPITAL. DOES ANYONE KNOW HIS NAME? PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS KID. I KNOW SOUTH CALDWELL'S TEAM IS TORN UP ABOUT IT. WE DON'T KNOW HIS NAME AND CAN'T FIND OUT ANYTHING.
