Offically, Gardner had 28 carries for 218 yards. By far, the most talented, yet underrated running-back in WNC if not all of NC.

 

That is correct. I didn't give the WONDERS much of a chance as the clock wound down. It seemed like everything was going against them. But they didn't give up and pulled it out.

Congrats to Sun Valley. They played an inspired game. They will make some noise in the SPC.

TO WARDEN: THE WATAUGA KID THAT WAS INJURED JUST WAS HIT VERY HARD BY AN OPPOSING PLAYER AND THEN SAT ON THE SIDELINES FOR A WHILE. WE HEARD HE STARTED CONVULSING, EYES CROSSING, THROWING UP , ETC ON THE SIDELINE AND LATER LOST CONSCIOUSNESS. WENT TO CALDWELL MEMORIAL AND THE NEWSPAPER THIS MORNING SAID HE WAS AT WAKE FOREST BAPTIST IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM AS OF LAST NIGHT. CALLED THIS HOSPITAL AND WAS TOLD HE WAS NOT ADMITTED THERE. SO WE CAN'T FIND OUT ANYTHING. HOPE HE IS ALRIGHT.

 

The word in the mountains this morning is that there was no surgery, but Will is in ICU and will be observed for several days. He has regained conciousness, but don't have any other details.

Will Davis was taken to Baptist for observation and he did lose consciousness for a time. But, the good news is that, while he has a severe concussion, he has not had to undergo surgery. In fact, he is conscious and alert now. He may remain under observation for several days, but right now it looks like he should make a full recovery without surgery. No football for a long time though -- maybe the season with a serious concussion.

Baptist would never tell you if someone had checked into their hospital. It's breaking the law to do so, especially in the case of a minor! But, I'm sure the Davis family and the Watauga community appreciates your concern.
