Tyler Manring and Jon Helsabeck both played legion baseball for the Western Forsyth team. Both had great summers. Tyler is a versitle player who played outfield but could also play infield. He runs well and swings a pretty good stick. Jon is very solid up the middle and was key player on the legion team this summer. He provided a good stick in the middle of the order and was also a good arm on the mound.

i agree with cpcbaseball on both acounts.
manring is a versitle player, he played left field for the titans last year and also on the legion team (maybe some right field also). he also is a good infielder. (may play there this year) runs very well has a good arm, and hit the ball very well in the last half of the school season and during legion. he has been working very hard in the weight room to improve strength. good student as well.

    hessleback (sp?)
saw him during legion. solid player wit a good future. swings the bat well good defensive player and pretty good on the mound also.

Jon Helsabeck is a solid infielder with good hands and pop at the plate. He will play a big role for Parkland on the mound this year but I personally believe his future is behind the pitcher. He has put in a lot of work this fall spending a lot of extra time on the field. Very coachable kid who seems willing to do what's necessary to be successful at the next level. He has been talking seriously with Methodist who is really interested and will be at the Senior Showcase this weekend at Wofford. He'll get an opportunity to play somewhere. Depending on his showcases and the spring, he should have several options.

Well said Caroliner. Your information is correct....Jon has been spending lots of time at the field this fall.

As the new coach at Parkland I can attest that Jon is doing exactly what every coach wants from his players in the fall (showing up, working hard, being very receptive and coachable, "yes sir, no sir", etc.) He definitely has the skills to play at the next level, it's just a matter of where. I expect him to have a great senior season on the field, off the field and in the classroom.

Is Manring talking to anyone? I saw where Helsabeck is talking to Methodist. ANyone else on his list? The showcase at Wofford this weekend will really get Helsabeck a lot of good looks. I've heard they'll be 20-30 schools there this weekend looking for that missing link. Keep working fellows and good luck.
