I like Reynolds defense, and it may just be me, but I think AC has underachieved a little this year. I thought when the year started they could contend for the NW4A title, but I just don't have that feeling now.

    Reynolds-27
    AC-10

    Reynolds 13
    ACentral 12

Reynolds shuts AC out in the 2nd half and adds two fieldgoals in the 2nd half to win. Special teams played a big factor. Cougars miss extra point and then fail on the 2 pt conversion in the first half.

Cougars snap over punters head leads to field goal for Reynolds in 2nd half.
Harper played well but Cougar D held him in check after first drive. Bowles was really not a factor most of the night. Reynolds goes to 2-0 in conference and AC goes to 1-1. Really dont see anyone beating Reynolds in conference unless it is Freedom. Well coached team and hard nose defensive front line.

    Coach Deal

I just don't think Coach Deal understands that Carter is not the best reciever that he has. If Carter is in a crowd and sees he is going to get hit, he is not going to catch it. There was many times there was reciever' s open against ACR, but the ball was thrown one way. Yes Carter caught a touch down pass but, we still lost, and the number one guy fell down when we needed it most. If you throw to some of your other reciever' s, you get 10 here and 20 there, you might run it in from the 5 or 10. Don't expect to throw to Carter every time 30 or 40 yrds down field. If he would get some of his other reciever' s involved in the game, he would be surprised with what he sees. I know if all the fan's can see it and wonder why it is like it is, he can see it as well, or he just doesn't want to see it!!!! :imagestor

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
Actually Carter (#84) is a GREAT receiver however like you said he isn't your ONLY receiver. Looking at my stat sheet, I see that he caught 3 passes against us (ACR), and #2 also caught 3 passes, #21 caught 2 passes, #17, #1, and #12 all caught 1 pass. That means 6 different receivers caught the 11 completions that your QB had for the night, that is pretty well balanced if you ask me.

Let me explain, look at where those other receivers were when they were thrown to. If you look at the tape, they were either on the line of scrimmage, or behind it. Bowles was thrown a ball maybe 2yds past the line of scrimmage on a screen play and that’s it. What I am saying is, when the ball goes down field, Carter is not the only receiver they have. Look at how many balls were thrown to each receiver you have listed, and what was caught.
    Thanks for your interest

I was at the game and had a great view. I wold have thrown to him more often. He did a great job of catching some unbelievable passes. He would have 10 passes at least trown his way every night if I were coaching

I second that! Man, with his size and his hands, I expect to see him playing on Saturday afternoons in the near future.

As for your theory Jorjac, I do understand exactly what you are saying, however when you have a talent like Alexander Central has in #84 you have to ride that horse. Just like us here at ACR, we have a talent in the backfield in Willie Harper (soon to be ACR's all-time leading rusher) and I totally hope and expect our coaches to ride him throughout the game. Will it work all the time, absolutely not, and everyone knows that, but you have to keep feeding him the ball because sooner or later that talent is going to bust loose and put you in a position to be successful. I honestly think that your coach needs to get #84 the ball MORE, he makes things happen and is nearly impossible to defend one on one because of his size as most corners in high school just aren't that tall.

All this being said, your Cougars have come A LONG WAY and I was extremely impressed with them. I expect them to continue to make a lot of noise in the NW4A as well as the playoffs this year. Good luck and continued success.
