Must be kin, probably has his shoe size if you need it. Paepalow must have picked up some speed since this summer and he is still the 3rd or 4th pitcher on the Reynolds team. This will be their year to make a run. Solid players, pitching and hitting, they just need to be more consistant. To the best of my knowledge wasen't Paeplow and Hinson both held back a grade? I think I heard that they both should be seniors???? Also didn''t one of the Duckworth twins sign with UNCA????

According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, Cameron Duckworth has verbally committed to play baseball at UNC Asheville with the Bulldog Baseball program.

He is definitely one to watch...All-Conference in the NW-4A, First-team All Western North Carolina by the Asheville Citizen-Times, starting first base and
    # 4 batter for the Reynolds Rockets and the Post 70 American Legion Team. He hit 6 HR in the spring season, then added more this summer, including a beauty over the left field wall at McCormick Field, home of the Asheville Tourists.

He was also chosen to play as a PUMA pre-season All-American last January in Phoenix, and played in the Junior Olympics tournament this past summer in Florida.
Congratulations to Cameron and his family on continuing his baseball career with UNC Asheville.

Another to watch for at ACR is Ian Haley (Jr, 6'2, and about 185, R/R) - smooth and quick at 2nd and SS, consistent w/the bat, pitches and catches. Determined and dedicated ball player and good kid. All around strong player, makes plays at 2B seem like a piece of cake. Good movement on his pitches.

Reynolds has 2 good years in front of them - their fall team has been coached by a great guy who's teaching them to play "together" and "for each other". The consistency you mentioned is definitely coming.

Don't know these kids shoe sizes or the holding back thing, but don't really see how that matters much. Heard something about Hinson being home schooled for a while and Papelow maybe coming from a private school down south somewhere (don't know if it's true or not). Just going by word of mouth around the fields, but evidently his speed has picked up 5-6 mph so far, got the build to develop it more if he wants to. IMHO speed's great, but everyone seems to say that offspeed stuff is as effective, if not more so sometimes - that anybody who can hit can catch up to a fastball. Haley's got some really good offspeed stuff and some great movement there. Both these kids are good 3-pitch guys. Development is the name of the game, right?

Just curious, how would anyone know a players rotation when the season hasn't even started yet? Must be one of their coaches. Or maybe just going by last year...

And Cam Duckworth has committed to UNC-A, huge congrats to him. Strong stick, great kid, getting to stay close to home and play ball is a major plus. played outside the area this past year and did well - defnitely a player and one to watch!

Might be a few other seniors giving some committments soon - we hope so.

Not saying that I know their rotation, just saying that based on the pitchers that they have. I'm not degrading anyone in any way, I'm saying that they are very talented and seem to have some depth at all of their positions. Congrats to Cam, he is a great kid.

Also has Blaine Howell comitted anywhere yet??? Another great kid.

I rememeber Dustin from AAU and USSSA days and the Catawba Valley Storm. I haven't seen him play or heard of him for a couple of years. Glad to hear he is still playing. He was certainly a quality player the last time I saw him. Was very hard to get out and pitched and played defense well also. Is he playing with a tournament team?

I have seen these two recently and both are players. It will be fun seeing them playing on the same team since they play on different tournament teams. With these two, Hopewell should have a strong base for a couple of years. I also expect them both to play on past H.S.

That's good, cuz the post did sound kinda degrading and it's way too early to start predicting what a teams lineup is gonna be - in baseball, you just never know what's gonna happen, who's gonna step up and who might slide down a bit .... there is some good depth and talent on this team - all the boys that play for Reynolds are working hard to help the coaches develop a strong roster and they all have something different and effective to offer.

Heard way back he wanted to go to Elon, then heard WCU was really interested in him. But, lately, haven't heard anything about if he's committed yet. Word has it that he's been playing with Impact Baseball so he's been gone a lot the fall. He's definitely another great kid and very effective pitcher with a lot to offer someones program.

fltog clear this up for me

Paeplow out of AC Reynolds HS - big leftie, can absolutely smash the ball, great off-speed stuff, increasing speed w/fastball, solid at 1B - definitely one to watch.

Hinson, also out of AC Reynolds HS - shortstop, extremely quick hands, good baserunner, consistent bat - very strong at times

on 10/0As a soph, Paeplow threw in 7 games, started in 4, won 3, 27 SO in 27.67 IP. Had 2nd best ERA on team (2.02). Kid works hard, trains virtually year round. 3 pitch guy, FB speed coming up - recently clocked at 82 - by the time he's a senior - speed should be upper 80's. Working to keep BB's down. Played in 19 games; Batted 11 for 46 (.239) w/7S, 1D, 3 HR, 9 RBI's, .314 OBP. Hit one a mile down in Charleston last weekend for a 2 run homer - bat speed @ 86 mph. Pitched one game this fall in Wood bat & got 15 SO out of total 21 outs. At 6'-4", 190, he's a player - great kid (read where he got his Eagle Scout last year).

As a soph SS, Hinson batted .295 and had .345 OBP, played in 24 games, went 23 for 78, 16 RBI's, 6 D, 17S. Quick hands w/12 PO & 33 A. Hinson's also a Scout, heard he's sitting for his Eagle board of review. (Eagle shows a huge amount of committment in a day and time where that's not very common anymore for youngsters!)

Both kids are great team players, have positive attitudes, and a huge desire to play at the next level.

    and this

the stats have come from watching the team play and I heard about the bat speed from a camp he attended - was the first time I'd heard about "clocking" bat speed and it kinda stuck in my head - didn't know they even clocked bat speed

Sam Runion - AC Reynolds, RHP, 6'4" 195....probably one of the best 07's in the state and could be one of the best in the country by the time he graduates.

Kinda bold statement there.... sounds like a player, tho......

it seems you go to games for a.c. reynolds and know just about every stat and who the players are and hear all kinds of things but you give the impression that you don't know who sam runion is. what's the story here?

    Sam Runion

Funny how true players usaully rise to the top.....Sam was mentioned as one of the top pitchers at the WWBA Underclass World Championships in Fort Myers this past weekend. He was one of four Dirtbag pitchers than hit 90 MPH.

    Clearing....

No, I know who he is and definitely didn't mean any slight to Sam. Figured WNCBB's statement pretty much said it all and had seen stuff on here about him before, so figured somebody else had him "covered". Did think the statement was "kinda bold", only because there must be many of extremely good baseball players in "the country".
so WNCBB was definitely on the right track. "sounds like a player" was pretty stupid tho, wasn't it - must've had a brain fart (seems to be happening more and more these days)

Word around was that he needed to develop a few other pitches besides his FB, which he probably has over the summer/fall. I've heard that many consider him one of the best pitchers at ACR. Think somebody already had posted his size, throws, etc. Seems like a nice kid, don't know him much personally. As WNCBB implied, he should go places. Far as I know, he pretty much pitches only, used to play 3B, I think, in MS, seems like he usually had a DH during HS games. Havent' seen him play or heard much about him since spring as he's been playing away, so don't have much "hearsay" about him right now. Article in the ACT about his time out at Midland said he did well in the 16U division.

Sometimes it's the same kids mentioned all the time, was just throwing a few kids out there that haven't seen on here before that are good players and could have some potential. Somebody early on in the post requested input on "07 players, was just giving my :twocents: , probably not worth a whole lot, but.....
