    On Deck and the Dirtbags:

The Dirtbags won their game this morning 3-2 over an East Cobb team to make it to the final 4. On Deck led their game until the 6th, before falling 6-5 to another East Cobb team.

The Dirtbags will play that same East Cobb team in the final 4. On the other side of the bracket, the Richmond Braves won their game over a team from Miami and will face the winner of the Fort Myers/Primetime (2 Florida teams) contest.

The Dirtbags bowed out in the Final-4 to East Cobb. It was the same East Cobb team that knocked out On Deck in the round of 8.

Great showing by all the NC programs.

I want to add my congratulations to the Dirtbags, O's and Panthers. We almost had three teams in the final eight, with the Panthers falling one game short. If we keep this up Baseball America and Perfect Game may actually have to give North Carloina players some credit instead of always touting the ability of the kids from CA, FL and TX. Way to go guys!

    Details on game 90 ?

Any info on the Impact Dirtbags (17's) 9-2 playoff victory over the Southeast Select team. The SS team came in 4-0 and had Michael Main from Deltona HS on their roster.
Main hit 91 on the PG radar gun as a 15 year old and was regarded as the top 07 pitching prospect in the country at one time. Not sure of his current status. If Main pitched in this game, then impressive is too small a word for this win !!!

The last I heard he had shoulder problems, so I doubt he threw in that game. He made it to the cut of 34 for the Junior National Team and then supposedly dropped out to rest his shoulder....not sure how serious it is.

I hate to hear that, although it doesn't suprise me. I've never seen a young pitcher put that kind of torque on his body during his delivery. When I watched him pitch for the East Cobb Aztecs in 03, I figured I was watching a future #1 pick in the MLB draft. Electric stuff. I hope he bounces back.

Count me in too, CONGRATULATIONS to the Dirtbags, O's, and South Charlotte.

It's great to have that level of competition in the State.:woohoo:

My son plays for the Copperhead 18U team and I wish we had entered the Jupiter Tournament at the end of October, (oh well) but I'll be cheering the local teams who are playing there also.:woohoo:

    Dirtbags' 07's run

I will formally tell you that stats are something I don't do but watching great performances is something I did see from these boys and all NC teams. I was amazed at the defense prowess the Dirtbag's showed throughout the tournament. Justin Jackson, Tyler Hanover, Greg Holt, and Chaz Sessoms were all outstanding with the glove and made some amazing plays to keep the other teams off the scoreboard. Having pitching depth really makes a difference in these tournaments. The Dirtbag's only threw two pitchers out there a 2nd time in the entire 7 game tournament. Holt and Ryan Leach combined in the first game and the 7th game. Ben Bunting, Trent Rothlin, Gary Bullman, Sam Runyion, Greg Amarosa all threw outstanding games. Bunting, Bullman, Rothlin all threw complete games victories. Bunting threw a beauty in beating the 07 East Cobb's (defending champions) on Monday morning. Facing pitchers from 93 to 83 MPH was a challenge throughout the tournament. Ben Bunting (Randleman) had an outstanding tournament with numerous hits and rbi's. Quincy Lattimore also hit well in spots showing great power in the final game with a towering home run. Greg Holt showed some power with two big triples and singles to help the attack. Ryan Leach also showed great power hitting a big home run against the Southeast Select.
Kids really showed alot of heart throughout this tournament. Pitching and good defense can really carry you far in a tournament of this caliber. Congrats to all of the NC teams. We showed that baseball in NC is good as anywhere in the USA. :woohoo:
