Word on the street is that the Rockets (team from A.C. Reynolds HS) look to finish 1st in the regular season of the Varsity Wood Bat League for WNC Fall Ball, dethroning the TC Roberson Rams for the 1st time. Currently, the Rockets record is 10-1 with 1 more game to play on Monday. This team has been climbing the ranks since the spring HS season, where they, along with a few other players who are playing either on a travel ball team or football, finished 2nd in the NW 4A Conference.

The Rockets have played solid baseball all fall long. All aspects of the game - pitching, hitting and defense, have been extremely strong. This group of young men play as a tight group with very few errors and a great sense of TEAM.

    Fall Team Roster:
    C - Dakota Slagle "06
    1B - Kyle Paeplow "07, Cameron Duckworth "06
    2B - Casey Duckworth "06, Ian Haley "07
    SS - John Hinson "07
    3B - Seth Hines "06, Cameron Decker "07
LF - Keith Chickos "06, Andrews Jeffords "07
    CF - Brandon Briggs "06
RF - "JD" Jonathan Durner "06, Nathan Berggrun "06, Phillip Terbeek "07

    Pitchers:
    JD Durner, RHP "06
    Seth Hines, RHP "06
    Kyle Paeplow, LHP "07
    Cameron Decker, RHP "07
    Phillip Terbeek, LHP "07
    Ian Haley, RHP "07
    Andrew Jeffords, RHP "07

Additional congrats go out to the Rockets on placing 2nd out of 28 teams in the 18U Division of the Charleston Mid-Fall Classic hosted by the DiamondDevils Ball Club this past weekend.

"Tournament highlights...homeruns were hit by Paeplow, Hines, and a GRAND slam by Dakota Slagle. Pitching was awesome...Defense played awesome...throw outs from outfield to home plate...double plays...numerous throw outs from home to 2nd....very, very, very few errors....strong hitting thruout the lineup...."

Way to go Rockets!! Best of luck in the upcoming end of season tournament and in the spring!!!![IMG]

Henderson county eleminated a solid tc roberson tonight in the wncfallball tournament. jerry brinkley, another west henderson sr. hit a two run shot. David ricker pitched and dominated the entire lineup with no hits and 14 strikeouts. Caleb Cuevas had a solid outing with a single, hit by pitch, stolen base and 2 runs scored. He also led off with a triple last night to bring his team back to within one run against transylvania county. Cuevas singled again in the last inning and drove in the go ahead run, jason merrill. tomorrow night to face enka in another elimination matchup!

ACR Rockets are now 3-0 in the WNC Fall Wood Bat League tourney. Solid pitching by Durner, Paeplow, and Haley in the first 3 games. Game 1 saw solid pitching by JD Durner. Game 2 against Tuscola went to the "texas shootout" tie breaker rule. Paeplow went 8 innings for the win w/11 SO. Game 3 against Enka ended up 10-1 in the 5th with Seth Hines hitting a 3-run homer in the 1st and Paeplow hitting a walk-off 3-run homer in the 5th to win the game under the mercy rule. Solid hits thruout the night by Casey Duckworth, Dakota Slagle, John Hinson w/a sac fly. Ian Haley pitched a solid game.

Looks like the Rockets will play either Enka or Henderson County on Wednesday as TC Roberson lost their 2nd tourney game last night to Henderson and are out of it.

The entire Rocket team has played well this fall and we are extremely proud of ALL the players. Keep up the hard work guys and don't get complacent. We still have 1 more to go. Good Luck!

    2005 Puma All-Americans

Henderson county, led by Josh Klineman went ahead of Enka 6 to 5 to have the chance to face Renolds. The match-up will include a 2005 Puma All-American on both squads. Caleb Cuevas will get the nod for Henderson County and will go against his former teamate and fellow All-American Cameron Duckworth! They played together on the same team earlier this year in Tempe Arizona and have an opportunity to play against one another in the wncfallball tournament. Cameron is an outstanding player who recently signed to play for UNCA.

Correct me if I'm wrong WHHBB, but didn't you ask in an earlier thread who Cauvas was and said that "he was under the radar." Then in your last thread you said that he was a PUMA ALL- AMERICAN... Which one is it ? If he was an all-american don't you think that people would know who he is?

Not being critical of the kid but it sounds like you are talking in circles.

Congrats to AC Reynolds, WNCFALLBALL Champs! After being behind 5-0 in the 5th inning,Henderson County fought back to tie the game.
Cuevas walked to lead off the top of the 6th. Reynolds surrendered another walk and Jerry Brinkley knocked a 2 rbi triple. Jason Merrill singled in Brinkley and then was able to score on a throwing error by Reynolds.

Reynolds was able to score in the bottom of the 7th to take the coveted crown!

    Thanks whhbb!

The Rockets won a well deserved season tonight beating a tenacious Hendersonville team. We're thrilled that they finally got the "crown"!!!:woohoo:

Game batting highlights for the Rockets:

    Brandon Briggs - "06 - had a 2B, 3B w/RBI, BB, 2 runs scored
John Hinson - "07 - a single, BB, and IBB
Seth Hines - "06 - sac FO w/RBI, a single for the winning RBI, 1 run scored
Casey Duckworth - "06 - single for RBI
Kyle Paeplow - "07 - solo Homerun (2nd in the tourney), 1 run scored
    Jonathan Durner - "06 - 2B
Andrew Jeffords - "07 - single and scored the winning run off the 1B by Seth Hines in the bottom of the 7th.

Defense wasn't quite as tight as it has been, but they fought back and worked hard to keep their heads in the game.

As I've mentioned before, the Rockets have been on the rise this year and they played an intense fall season, working hard to build a TEAM. Congratulations to you, boys, you've accomplished a 1st! 1st time winning the season in the fall wood league and 1st time winning the tourney in the same league. We're extremely proud of your hard work, your positive sportsmanlike behavior, and your maturity in your wins. Take it with you into the Spring season and best of luck!!
