I am sure that Coach Craig will sleep much better this winter knowing that you have all of his line up cards already filled out.

 

In baseball, it's not over til it's over and it's way too early to project anything....

There's a lot of talent on the team and hopefully all will get playing time.

 

Sorry if I am opening up a can of worms here, but where is Runion and Howell on the AC Reynolds fall roster? You would think that they would want to play with their "teammates"? Do they need a break or something? Just curious. Seems if they don't want to pitch this fall after a grueling summer they would at least want to be a part of the "team"? Fill me in. I know the showcase teams only play on the weekends.

 

Good questions, but don't have the answers. Guess they would be the best ones to answer. Pretty sure all the boys on the fall roster played in the summer as well, between summer ball and Am Legion ball, or both. Obviously they chose to play elsewhere, maybe they're looking for some other type of exposure? It's good to hear that they've done well with where they're playing as it should only benefit the spring season for the Rockets.

We had every one of our fall team pitchers perform extremely well, so it will be a very interesting spring with regard to that aspect of the game. ACR could have some very deep pitching if all the boys can continue to work hard and be used in games. 4A competition will be tough, however, and the offense will have to work as hard as the defense. You can't win games if you don't get on the bag. Our offense was pretty darn good this fall, but it's hard to tell how our fall competition will end up stacking up against the spring competition.

I do know this fall team has developed an extremely tight bond and want to continue to build on their momentum together. Quite a few seniors who are looking to make the absolute most of their final season and some extremely strong juniors who are going to want to build on the successes that they've been a part of. These guys want to go to state and they'll be continuing to work hard toward that goal. As always, we wish them the best.

 

Sounds like a very good squad but remember that they play in a very tough conference. With the likes of South Caldwell and Alexander Central it will be very hard for the Rockets to make the playoffs again... But if they are going to do it this will be the year.

tough conference?i don't think state wide anyone considers the nw4a to be a tough conference. how many state championships, or finalist or for that matter regional finalist? how did they do in the playoffs last year? i think i recall that alex.central got 10 runned at home ,south caldwell lost at home and a.c. reynolds got beat on the road. 0 for 3 in the first round doesn't equate to a tough conference, does it?

 

Like I said....

I think the Rockets will make the playoffs again this year and, quite possibly, in 2007 as well, as there are quite a few good/strong juniors and sophomores moving up the ranks. I think 2006 & 2007 seasons will be both be successful seasons for the Rockets.

moesyslak makes a very valid point which, again, goes back to my comments wondering about how we will do in the spring. I know we can be very competitive, it's just a huge unknown as to how we would play against schools down east. We held our own in Charleston this fall against some tough competition, but having not played many eastern schools, only time will tell. As far as the NW4A being tough or not - at this point it's probably like comparing apples and oranges until there's an opportunity to play each other. Just because NW4A hasn't been strong in the past doesn't mean they can't or won't be strong in the future. New and talented kids are coming along all the time.

And, you know, ANYTHING can happen in baseball.....
