This only a few years ago was a battle to stay out of the basement in the Northwestern Conference. Now both programs are dissappointed they are not at the top of the league. South lost to the Cougars by a point a year ago and this should be another close one. Cougars are 6-4 with the four losses by a total of 12 points. They let one get away last week at Boone and will be without their starting QB, Dustin Harrington. He suffered a concussion in the Watauga game and will be out. South got pounded late last week by AC Reynolds. Winner will get third in the league and most likely a home playoff game.

Who wins will depend on which team shows up for AC. They look like the real deal one week and next week they look like the same old cougars!!! Dont expect much of a drop off at QB. Kerley is an excellent athelete. He also has the best hands of any reciever I've saw in a long time. Only because Calvin Teague was not allowed to play that position!!!! STILL cant get over that. BET alot of AC people will amen that one!! It will be a good game Friday night!!!

I don't think this game means anything as far as playoff standings between these two teams. If I understand the playoff secinerio right SC has clinched at least third place because if AC wins they will have the same conference record but SC will have a better overall record so they would get third place. The one thing that does matter is if EB beats Freedom and SC wins they would tie Freedom for second and also have a better overall record here too. If AC were to win then EB,SC and AC would all have the same conference. several different situations here. Still For me it is more about winnig every game no matter what is at stake. I know both SC and AC are a little beat up with both having some key players hurt right now so who knows what this game will be like

Unless they have changed things lately, If 2 teams have the same conference record they go to head to head battle before overall records. That would give third place to Alex. because they would have beaten South. Same as freedom would get 2nd if they tied South because they beat the Spartans.

    ACHS @ S Caldwell

That is the way I understand it as well. Also, Alexander would carry a 7-3 record into the playoffs with a win over the Spartans. This is because of the endowment loss to North Iredell, which does not count in the playoff standings. As for the Cougar QB situation, look for Soph. Josh Russell to play a lot and maybe start. He has been called up from the JV team. Russell has a very good arm. Can't say I would be worried to see Cameron Kerley play either. He did a great job filling in for Harrington on Friday night at Watauga.

Will is doing great, and his recovery continues. The WHS team, and South
Caldwell team has been very supportive. He goes back to Baptist next week
for a report from his doctors. We hope the report remains positive. He has enjoyed being back on the sidelines with his team.:woot:

how about josh russell?!? this kid had an amazing game against south tonight! he looked like he's been doin this for years. 3 TD's. 0 interceptions. when he didn't have an open man, he either ran or took the sack. this guy has a bright future ahead of him as long as he keeps his head on strait. i don't think that'll be a problem though. i have been around him and his family enough to know that he knows his roots and that he'll stick to them. his dad Terry has been a coaching influence in my life coming up through rec baseball, basketball, and football and i'm not even one of his sons so i can only imagine the impact he's made on Josh!! keep up the good work cougars and make something happen!!

    Do it Again?

South Caldwell can't be rel happy having to come to Tville again after the beating they took Friday night. Playoff pairings have the Spartans an 11 seed coming to the 6th seed Alexander Central. What can they do to make it closer? I just don't see them moving the ball on the Cougar D.
