    eligibility

per several coaches i've talked to the nchsaa does NOT reqire an eligibility list be turned in prior to the season or the playoffs. it is basically done on a complaint basis or self policed. these coaches felt there were many players who were ineligble but play during the season uncaught. in little league when i wen toa district tournament we had to have list with birth certificates, maps of where our players lived and maybe even sign an affadavit pleding proper eligibility. you'd think with all the money and prestige at stake fot it's playoffs that they check eligibility more closely before allowin any team into post season play

Beat them on the field, and this whole argument is moot. They used one ineligible player in a sport that takes 22 men to play. Unless the player in question was superman, he shouldn't have mattered.

How has Crest not done that? They turned themselves in and accepted the penalty. The only bellyaching I've heard about it is from the teams that got put out by them, which I have no sympathy for because they had a chance to take care of it themselves by winning the game and didn't.

    Hey Bucko,

Why should the rules be any differnt for SUPERMAN. Rules are and should be the same for all the player on any given team. TEAM SPORT.

Regarding the eligibility list, it is required, if I'm not mistaken. The rule use to be that the school sent a copy to the state, and they kept it on file. A few years back, the rule was changed to the eligibility list must be kept on file at the school in case it is needed. I may be wrong, but I think this is how it works now. Still required, just housed at the school instead of the state.

    Bucko,

Why did they have to cheat? Why did they have to cheat? Why did they have to cheat? It is impossible to compete when cheating is condoned. Crest turned themselves in to avoid the embarrassment had they got caught. My question is, if they are so good and so holy in football, why did they have to cheat in the first place. “Beat them on the field, and this whole argument is moot.” Your team cheated!!!!!!!!!!!!! “They used one ineligible player in a sport that takes 22 men to play”, why stop at one, in my book the whole team and coaching staff should be dubbed ineligible. “bellyaching” This is two years in a row that this county has been CHEATED out of a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Let it happen to you and we will see who bellyaches and Martha Stewart’s about what the Crest program got away with this year.

My final say on this JOKE of Justice!!!!!!!

By reporting the violation, Crest -- the two-time defending 3-AA state football champions – knocked itself out of the playoffs. It also must forfeit any games for which the player dressed and will have to return revenue and awards accrued during postseason play. Would someone please tell me what Crest High Cheaters really lost? Who gets the revenue? I hope the schools that got cheated out of their opportunity to win fair and square. The fine for use of an ineligible player is $500, and it will be reduced in half due to Crest's self-reporting of the violation. Half! Half! So there is still a possibility that the Program profited from this rule breaking (LAW VIOLATING) incident. That’s not punishment, that’s a JOKE. I can not imagine how that jewel of a program can live with itself on half of a sentence. I say again, BAN THE PROGRAM (Crest High Cheaters) FOR TWO YEARS and send a message to all programs that will stick.

It was an accident you big idiot. In fact it never should have happened had the school board done its job and make sure everybody konws about a new rule when they make it. If you want to blame somebody blame the cleveland co. school board.

Second of all we would ahve beat the piss out of South Caldwell without the player and probably w/o all of our starters. I think the Crest middle school team had better atheltes than South Caldwell and they were also bigger. They probably would have won by 20. Your team sucked and had no business even being in the playoffs. And we will not be banned, and will be better next year than we were this year. so get ready to watch us win our 5th title.

I had to reply to the Idiot remark!

Crestman, Accident or not, Crest got caught. I agree with what you are saying, if we have to start at the Cleveland County School Board, then anything or anyone that supports the Crest High Charger Football program needs to be punished. I am standing by the fact that the punishment is a joke. Crest gets to come back next year like nothing ever happened. IDIOT, I never said that Crest had a bad football program, I stated in one of my earlier posts that Crest was a power-house in football. Then, Smashmouth and two other fans made a joke of that remark. You, stated that Crest will win a fifth state championship, (You even posted Crest’s accomplishments) if that’s not a power-house attitude then what is!!! And for a power-house program to act this way, it just goes to show what kind of program that you have and support, CHEATERS that will stop at nothing to win. Again, we will never truly know if the second string, third string, JV, or middle school team could have beaten South, because the first string was cheating. Lastly, I coach at one of the other Caldwell County High Schools. I am just concerned about the way that this county is currently being treated by the NCHSAA. P.S. In this day and time, only an IDIOT would forget to use the spell check before posting something worth reading, Dummy!:banginghe
