heck, i dont even know if thats the name of our conference this year with us being a combination 3a/4a conference. we lost berry academy and north lincolnton, and got crest in return. but based on the fact that hunter huss has seven returning seniors, and that ashbrook lost so much talent last year, this is how is see it

hunter huss, east gaston and southpoint will fight it out for the title, north gaston will improve with the addition of a very good coach, forestview will not have a replacement for the loss of houser/wilson at middle infield, crest will struggle with pitching, as will ashbrook. east gaston losing their catcher will definately be a factor, but good coaching prevails. hunter huss has added two talented and fast freshmen, filling gaps from last year, no one will blow out this conference, and i predict it will come down to the last games of the season before a clear winner will be seen. but no matter who wins, the 3a champ still must get past kings mountain, and that will be tough. good luck to all :trophy:

Oh well hear I go.Being new to the CPC,don't know much about it, but will take a stab at it.I do know that ole Coach Lambros is up there in Welcome probably licking his chops, cause the Lady Knights will be the powerhouse!!West Forsythe lost I believe 6 srs from last yr,but I'm sure there are some good ball players that have been waiting their turn,& they'll be competitive.Davie County should be strong with the bats,& good defense, but lost most of their pitching.Mt Tabor ,don't know much about, but I do feel that there will be 3 slots for playoff picture with the additions to the conf. Can't wait for the scrimmages to fire up & get to see everyone.Good luck to all!

    W Rowan

I believe U are right on West Rowan, they will miss Devon's leadership but have a wealth of talent and some new leaders willing to step it up. They have power, speed, pitching, and defense. Can't ask for more.

    4A State Title Match-Ups

I will take this a step further and try to predict which four teams will be in Raleigh playing for the 4A State Title the first weekend of June. With the way the brackets fall all of these teams could make it. This is just a prediction but with the talent these teams have it is a very serious possibility.

    Out of the West:

Obviuosly Central Cabarrus is a heavy favorite for a three peat. They have most of there starters returning and they have been the starters since their sophomore season when they won their first state title. It is hard to argue with the numbers the past two Central Cabarrus teams have posted and most of those players from those two teams are coming back. With that being said look for them to be in Raleigh playing for a third title.

North Davidson has to be a heavy favorite to make it to Raleigh this year. The past two seasons North has lost the Regional Semi-Final to West Forsyth, which would have advanced them Raleigh. Without West Foryth standing in their way this season they should be able to get by. This is a team that did not start a single senior last season and most if not all of their starters this year will be either juniors or seniors. They have a lot of experience and a great coaching staff.

    Out of the East:

Wake Forest-Rollesville, who made it last year to Raleigh, should be a able to make it this year. This team is coming back probably stronger than they were a year ago. They only lost two players to graduation off of last years team, neither of which played key positions. This season they will see the addition of a transfer from Arizona who will help out in some key areas. With a strong nucleus returning and some strong pick-ups they should be able to get back to Raleigh this season.

Eugene Ashley should make its first appearance in Raleigh since the 2003 season. They have to come through what could arguably be the toughest bracket in the 4A playoffs. Last season they lost the Regional Semi-Final to South View, which would have advanced them to Raleigh. South View lost some strong players from last season but will still have a excellent team this year. Eugene Ashley should have the edge this season, after only losing one key player from last year and most of their players returning this year. Most of Ashley's players play for the very strong Carolina Cougars Organization, as do South View's players, so it should make for an interesting match-up. Remember this might be the toughest side of the bracket with Ashley, South View, Cape Fear, and Laney all coming out of the District.

Should be Enka out of the west....that is west of Kings Mountain. Those two teams should meet again to decide who goes to Raleigh.

    Good points

Good choices, hard to bet against any of the above but Butler played Central tough before losing on a throwing error in extra innings, I believe. The kid that made the throw has a great arm but no one told her where to go with the ball. Will be another great HS season around the state. Good luck to all the contenders. :blah:
