I'm going to complain about the officiating but it is not what you might think. Alexander was lucky to win this game as the refs did everything they could to give it to SC. The officiating in the nw4a this year is terrible. Something needs to be done but I don't have the answers.

I agree with the statement reguarding the officials...they have done a less than average job this year. Not sure what happened in your game tonight, but I've noticed a general thing of refs this year is that one ref would overrule other refs who had better views of the game. Just courious, are there any specific calls that you felt were key calls that were missed?

How about this in the ACR/McDowell boys game....McDowell throws the ball away and then calls timeout. The teams come out of the time out and the refs give the ball to MCDOWELL, who proceeds to score. ACR coaches go crazy and the refs "meet" then they give the ball to ACR with the 2 points remaining on the board. Now it didn't make a difference in the game, but man how do you miss something like that!

I agree with you guys. We have had some real winners in the Watauga games. I am a former ref and can tell you that the level of refs. that I have seen this year is below average.

So SC fan, you are saying from a South Caldwell fans perspective, the refs tried everyway for AC not to win? Must have been bad coming from a SC fan.

The few years I have been here on TBR I have tried to stay away from talking about the offiiciating, mainly because somewhere in the 'by-laws' around here we were told not to....but, the 3 years my daughter (I know this is the guys thread) played in the NW4A there has truly been some bad officiating.....much like a baseball strike zone, it would be nice if the calls were consistant.....even if the call is wrong make it on both ends in identical situations......I have also thought that some schools have more 'touch' or questionable calls against them, especially when they are struggling and playing one of the elite teams in the conference................btw, my daughter is playing college ball now and it doesn't get any better, some of these guys are as bad if not worse, out of position, lagging behind the play and having to guess at what is going on.....did see a guy that must have moved up from HS to college, he officiated some of our games in HS the last few years.....hasn't gotten any better........there, said my piece...good luck to all the NW4A teams this year!
*edit* btw, these guys are suppose to be professionals at what they do...good thing we dont do our professions the way some of these cats do.

Several bad calls both ways but near the end a couple of really bad calls against AC. AC was up 4 with 5 sceonds to go in the game. SC tries an off balanced three pointer in which the SC shooter fell into the AC player and AC was called for a foul (questionable). Then SC misses the first freethrow hits the second and intentionally misses the last shot down by three with the ball hitting the rim. The ref for some reason blows the whistle as AC comes down with the rebound and without calling a foul gives the ball to SC??????
They inbounds the ball and miss a 3 so in the end it didn't hurt AC.
I'm a big South Caldwell fan but I don't want to see refs determine a ball game for or against us. We have been on both ends this year one in a girls game with a loss and one in a boys game and it is not the way the game was meant to be.

    bad calls

Bigdan,I got called an idiot on the board by a certian fan for shaking a skunk at the refs. You have sit with me at enough games to know many times I would not have to get on the refs in the past but what games I've attended this year the calls have been bad. In the McDowell,South Caldwell girls game bad calls went against both sides. Some fans love to scream and rave. I just send the refs a simple message with the skunk.:twocents:
